A Godly man to me is one who is letting God be the head of him. One who is letting the righteousnes of Christ live in him and the Holy Spirit Guide him in all that he does to be the head of his household. He is one who realizes that he has no righteousness of his own and that only God and the Holy Spirit can direct his path.
He is a man who is teachng the word in his household and who realizes that his wife is a helpmeet that is to stand beside him and support him in all things that he does when she knows he is being lead by God. She is a woman who prays and lifts her husband up to God at all times.
Well a men role in the is to take care of the yard car pant the house and help in the house win the wife need him , and help the wife to cook wash and what every she ask of him...
What happens if you have flip roles, such as the women does the painting of the house, balance the check book ex.. and the man does the cooking. Would this be in proper order, oh and I must add, that their happy with those roles.
a man of God has been designed according to the character of God Himself. He said let us make man in Our image. There are three facets of God that he has placed in us as men. God is a King, He is sovereign. Men were made to rule. God created man out of the dust of the ground. Men were desingned to be creative. God protected, empowered, and encouraged. men were gifted to protect, to empower, and to encourage.
This is why God made man from the ground. then turned him around and showed him how to cultivate the very thing he was made of. he showed him how to plant seed into it and produce a harvest. and once he learned how to do that God gave him a woman and told him to do the same.
God planted seed in the garden not Adam. A disobedient Adam also did not plant seed into Eve in the garden. Not until he was compelled even by God as a now punished Adam did he do so in 4:1, post-fall outside of the garden. Also, prove to me why a creation in dry dust is evidence of an elevated position, particularly when the description of that creation (that is of the man) is parallel also to God's creation of the garden itself which consisted of a moist, wet earth of which a dusty Adam was not. Specifically why was the earth watered and now wet in Genesis 2:6, yet for the creation of a future unconfessed Adam, dry only in his creation in 2:7, and yet mirculously wet again and properous in 2:8 without yet another misting of water? What grows in the dust, what is God seeking to say to us about this man Adam?
Did not the Foreknowledge of God speak to us even then about the future works of a rebelliious, unconfessed garden man Adam? And yet Eve was created from the "rib" and not the full flesh of Adam according to the true desire of God? But why? There must have been a reason, right?
I ask only in sincere earnest of seeking and exalting the truth of this garden word only, whatever that real truth may be.
A Godly man should be sympathizing, attentive, understanding and kind, for “What is desirable in a man is his kindness, and it is better to be a poor man than a liar.”
He must be authoritative. He must not be effeminate (1 Corinthians 6:9),
He must be a true man who is responsible and chief (head) of his wife (Ephesians 5:23).
He must love his wife (Ephesians 5:28). ( this point is very important!!!!!)
He must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not addicted to wine or pugnacious, but gentle, peaceable, free from the love of money.
He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity.
(1Timothy 3: 1-5)
But, so that this man can be really opened out, he must find a virtuous woman who knows her place in the family:
Description of a Worthy Woman
10An (A)excellent wife, who can find?
For her worth is far (B)above jewels.
11The heart of her husband trusts in her,
And he will have no lack of gain.
12She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
13She looks for wool and flax
And works with her hands in delight.
14She is like (C)merchant ships;
She brings her food from afar.
15She (D)rises also while it is still night
And (E)gives food to her household
And portions to her maidens.
16She considers a field and buys it;
From her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17She (F)girds herself with strength
And makes her arms strong.
18She senses that her gain is good;
Her lamp does not go out at night.
19She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hands grasp the spindle.
20She (G)extends her hand to the poor,
And she stretches out her hands to the needy.
21She is not afraid of the snow for her household,
For all her household are (H)clothed with scarlet.
22She makes (I)coverings for herself;
Her clothing is (J)fine linen and (K)purple.
23Her husband is known (L)in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.
24She makes (M)linen garments and sells them,
And supplies belts to the tradesmen.
25Strength and (N)dignity are her clothing,
And she smiles at the future.
26She (O)opens her mouth in wisdom,
And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
27She looks well to the ways of her household,
And does not eat the (P)bread of idleness.
28Her children rise up and bless her;
Her husband also, and he praises her, saying:
29"Many daughters have done nobly,
But you excel them all."
30Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
But a woman who (Q)fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
31Give her the product of her hands,
And let her works praise her in the gates.
This question has been a struggle for a society that has transform from a male focus environment to a community that women have the ability to be view as partners in ministry. The troubling scripture is when Josha inform Israel that fpr me and my house, we will serve the Lord. How can he determine what his house will do. The responsibility of a Godly man is to lead his household to the Lord. A friend of mine reports if a wife attends church, doesn't mean her husband or children will. But if the father attends than there's a 90% factor that the wife and children will attend with him. Paul informs us as
Christ loved the chruch, the husband is to love the family.
In counseloring I have informed new couples that the male being the head of the family is not about control, but leading his family to God, and loving them as Christ loves him. This mean being a spiritual and supportive partner. For example, if the husband is a art teacher and his wife has her MBA, then as the head of the home, he will depend on her to make finanical/investment decisions.
The issue we have to day, is the conflict of the biblical instructions and the modern cultural of a virtuous women. I do like Proverbs 31, she maintain the home, the business, and family while her husband sits at the gate and he praises her. What does this mean, both a godly man and woman have to be partners to have a godly home.
Proverbs 31 speaks volumes about both the man and the woman....but only the woman is focused on in that passage (albeit she's the topic) but the man is vaguely considered. He's the head.. how can he NOT be considered. LOL
Proverbs 31 is a description of a woman who is an arrow that is pointing to something... but what in the world is she pointing to... ??
Answer that correctly and you've unlocked a mystery that is not even mysterious.
Hint... the answer to my question is actually within Proverbs 31
Homes are being destroyed for lack of godly men who know their mission. when the nation of Israle was sinning God was threaterning to take them into captivity God showed the importance he placed on one dedicated man. Ezekiel 22: 30-31 now I am not going to write a long page but I will give God's view of a man's role in the home
Essentially, his role is to grow in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and to model what Christ is to the church. The only difference between his role and Christ's role according to the Ephesians 5 passage, is that he learns from Christ, which implies a process of growth, but Christ is the peerless paradigm.
Contrary to cultural teachings, his wife is not his priority, Christ is! His relationship with Christ transforms him so that he does what needs to be done for her good without a demand for reciprocity. However, she submits, yields and respects him ( a type of worship), because of who he is. His role is to be transformed by the teachings of Christ, so that her reverence to him, makes her more like the Lord also. Therefore, a woman he delights in!
