Jude 17-25

Introduction:
To protect from harm - to guard from atteck - to repulse enemies - to live in peace

For centuries rugged defenders have stood as the citadel of nations, having constructed walls and waged wars, and expending material and human resources in battle to save nations and cities.

With total commitment and courageous abandon, individuals have fought for their family and love for stste and country. It is a rule of life that we fight for survival, defending with all our strength what is most precious to us, from every real or imagined attack. God's word and the gift of eternal life have infinite value, which has been entrusted to Christ's faithful followers.

There are many people who live in opposition to God. They twist the truth, seeking to deceived and destroy the foundation of truth.

Dr. Paul Carlin, president of Therapon Institute and author of "The Lies We Believe", writes that, "what a person believes is the gate through which thoughts originate, thoughts are processed, emotions are formed, and then actions are taken."
1) People do what they do because they believe what they believe.
2) Satan's first line of defense is a lie.
a. A lie is easier to believe than the truth.
b. As the lies take root, germinate, and grow they cause a multitude of problems.
c. the enemy does not want us to receive conviction from the Holy Spirit so he can blind us, make us forget, and alienate us from the love of God.

But the tuth stands, carried, and defended those who have committed their lives to God's only son. Like a seasoned warrior ready for battle.

Jude's message:
Opposition would come, godless teachers will arise, but Christians should contend for the faith (strugggle to maintain, and figth for your faith in Christ)
This is the battle field:
a) Rejecting all falsehoods
b) Remembering God's mighty acts
c) The warnings of the Apostles
