Black Preaching Network

Last night I went to a revival at a pentacostal church. The service was great. At the end of the service the guest preacher (elder) started prophesying over a few people. He prophesied over a young lady, and then he asked me if he could pray for me. I knew he was coming my way because before he called me out the Holy Spirt said, "he's coming your way next." So I let him pray for me. He then gave me a prophecy which was right on point. The things he said were things I had been thinking about. But then he begin to speak in tongues which threw me off a bit. We know what Paul says about speaking in tongues openly without an interpreter. (i'm still doing my homework about tongues). I've fellowshipped with non-denominational churches as well. I'm Baptist. Do any of you fellowship with other denominations? What was your experience like?

God never gave us denominations, if you read in your Bibles, it simply states The Church, once we the instuments by which he performs his concerta are just willing to be used, then God gets the Glory, Personally I was baotized in a primitive Baptist Church at 6, but for the next 25years was in the A.M.E.C. both experiences were good, But for the life of me, I cannot understand all of the division. Now I am a Missionary Baptist. But I just refuse too be labeled any of these, And one thing that I hate is this is my church, and we got the Holy Ghost over here, and then again we got the Word over here, and all the while folk dying nd going too hell, If we have som much why not just give it away. Some do not fellowship with others because of religion, but can get together in the name of fraternal brother/sisterhood. the madness of all of this is that God is put in the background. Can't talk about what others have been through, but just this past New Years, I was told that alot of people were offended by me because of some dancing two others and myself did, my response was " Sirs I was not dancing for you." All of us do not have the same gifts, but the same spirit must work in all. Once we leave man's way alone then will god get his Glory.

One thing those of the flesh do not realize is it is all about God not about them so when they see that it is God using them then they will say yes God can truly use a woman as well. I pray they do not get caught up in their own wickedness and. troubles because of them being in the flesh and the wrath of God come down on them hard.... I believe He is in the midst of exposing them right now you see you have many to talk about what is going on and God is just showing them things about themselves... Just watch and see God is about to do some transforming and reconsideration..... In JEsus nmae amen.... Folk Better Wake Up Today not Tomorrow Because Tomorrow Could Be TOOOOOO Late!!!!!!!!!!

AMEN! and AMEN! I think that too many folk are more concerned about being baptist, pentacostal, catholic methodist and the like than they are about being Biblical. JMS

very true. All that matters is if the church is Christ Centered. If Jesus is the foundation, then let's get our praise on!

Greetings everyone. I am a Pastor of church that claims to be Baptist but worships very much like a Pentecostal Church. I am the son of a COGIC Superintendent and the Grandson of a COGIC Bishop. I am getting ready to have our churches first Convocation in April the 13th - 16th. The whole idea is to call the SAINTS together to honor God and experience the Pentecostal experience as it was in Acts 2. I have absolutely no problem fellowshipping with other denominations and even preaching for them several times a year. One of the things that has troubled me about the Baptist Church is that often times the Baptist Church does not know WHY we are really Baptist in the first place. Apart from being the church where our parents took me when I was a child they have no idea that Baptist ought to be baptized with more than water, WE need the FIRE and the HOLY GHOST Baptism as stated in Matthew.

On a cd from a Azusa revival years ago, heard carlton pearson say, "bapticostal" (lol) I was taught we are baptist because we believe the entire bible. Most folks are baptists because that's where big momma went to church. (lol) But yes, Pastor Joubert, we need that fire- we shouldn't let legalism and tradition stop our praise and worship. If a church doesn't allow you to shout, you better get out of there. Let me stop, i'm about to take off and start running. (halleleujah!)

Brother Luckett I'm Baptist and to tell the truth what does it matter? Jesus wasn't about a denomination, that's what man did and does. I've gotten to the point I don't even consider myself as this or that anymore, simply a man that is getting the truth from God in His Word and not from man. The problem with so called religions to me is different doctrines and whether the Word is being rightly divided or not. I don't think Jesus or God could care less about religion only that we are doing His work.

About tongues I too am still up in the air and have discussed this before. As you stated Paul said unless there is an interpreter then don't do it because it is just babblings to those that don';t understand it. I don't think if those that claim they speak in tongues were talking to one another in tongues they would know what the other is talking about either. If it is tongues then it's just between you and God. Some I feel is using it for show. Just my opinon my brother. God bless.

I agree, some people do pretend to speak in tongues. Or, some preachers will say a particular word and they will get them started. I truly hope noone is "Tongue Bashing". Knowledge is power. If you don't understand seek understanding.
