It appears that there are many married couples that have suffered in their marriage, because of a spouse that is involved in ministry. The cause of suffering, their focus is more on ministry than on their family. There is no time being spent at home or doing things together as a family.

Recently, I have met a few couples that are working in ministry together and they seem to like it very much. Their take on it is, that they are able to spend more time together and their marriage is being enhanced.

Are any of you in the network married and working together in ministry? What are you finding to be the benefits from doing so? Are there any of you out there that would not want to work with your spouse in ministry, if so what would be your reason?

I would love to hear from you on this topic. My husband and I are discussing this now on our show would love some guests to call in and be on the show. Please get in on this discussion. If you think you and your spouse would like to be on the show please email us at am1260voice@yahoo.com we'd love to hear from you.

Thanks for such a detailed rsponse to this discussion
Two is always better that one, and marriage is a ministry. I believe that working together on one accord there is no limit to what GOD can do through a couple by using them for his glory and honor.Stay prayed up through tough times.GODS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT!
Kimberly, I totally agree with you and I believe that every couple that works together in ministry and glorifies God will be greatly blessed. There are so many benefits to couples working together in ministry that it will blow your mind.
The benefit in married couples working in ministry together is togetherness. They grow together and they develop the same mindset regarding the things of God. But what would make such a partnership successful is humility and respect. Each should respect the hand and gift of God in the other. Each should be humble enough to recognize the gift of God in the other and respect it. Always pray for one another, as you need each other and do draw strength from each other. God has deposited in both the husband and the wife that which they need in order to have good success in their relationship. She needs the portion which was deposited in him, and likewise, he also need that portion that is poured out in her. Always be ready to value what your spouse brings to the table. You need what he/she brings just as they need what you bring. You are two-halves of one hole. The interesting thing about a seed is that it does not have to be great in order to produce. It just has to be whole. This is why the mustard seed faith is so full of potential. It is not the size of the seed that counts, but the wholeness of it. When you are both rooted and grounded in the same faith, and the same hope in Christ; planted in the same place, having your souls watered together in prayer, you will produce the same denomination of fruit and have a succesfull walk together in Christ Jesus.
Ok, now this is a good message. I have had a few conversations about the mustard seed this month so I think I need to study it a little deeper. There is nothing like togetherness in a marriage, it makes such a difference and can produce much success!!!!!
Ok, "The Innergizer" has spoken. Wow!! you were so on point. We need to talk together and share. I will visit your website please visit our myspace page (www.myspace.com/asoundvoicetalkshow). God bless you and continue to be a blessing to the people of God.
The Bible does say the we are to be one flesh. So, when one is called into the ministry then both are called. Your right hand must go to the same destination as the left. However, the complexities of growing a ministry can be stressful on a marraige if not solid in it's foundational priciples. Competative jealousy can arise if one is rising to the forefront faster than the other. Egos can get out of control and one spouse can begin to usurp their fame or notariety over the other as if because of the following their anointing and wisdom is greater. This is most notable with women who surpass their husbands in fame and fortune. Because of being pushed down for so long in the world by men, when they rise above one in ministry the ego gets the best of them. Tone, language, and jestures can become degrading and belittling. However, it takes a very balanced approach to manage the emotional state of this type of growth. There must be constant encouragement, and communication between spouses. We must understand our roles on and off the pulpit or in and out of our ministry offices. The vision must be established and we are working together on the common goal. It is very healthy to work together in ministry when the two can see the bigger picture then the two of them. Knowing through humility that if it had not been for the "Blood" neither of us would have a thing to offer anyone. My wife and I work together in ministry and have from the very beginning and these are some of the things that we have had to overcome. We have always had a powerful team when we come together. I'm very proud of my wife and I push her ministry forward far past my own. There are inherently more women that attend church so it's pretty much a no brainer. She is highly anointed and will deliver people from bondage. I am not insecure about my calling and I know who God made me to be. Think of it like this...it really doesn't matter who turns the key, unlocks the door, or enters in first...we will both live in that place together and enjoy!
Blessings
My wife and I are new christians and we are actively serving in our church and I must say it has been a blessing to both of us as we feel that it has been adding so much more depth to our relationship and far as serving others as opposed to just about us. Not only that but also it has been able to help us connect with other people who have similar values as far as serving and I know we have both grown together because of that

WOW...THIS IS A GREAT DISCUSSION. ON FEB. 1, 2001 MY HUSBAND AND I GOT MARRIED. MARCH, 2001 I GOT PREGNANT. AUG. 13, 2001 MY FATHER IN LAW WHO PASTORED A CHURCH FOR 30 YEARS, PASSED OUT OF THE BLUE WITH NO SIGNS OF BEING SICK. SEPT 23, 2001, MY HUSBAND AND I TOOK OVER MY FATHER IN LAWS MINISTRY AND GOT ORDAINED AS PASTORS. SEPT. 23, 2001, I FAINTED DURING THE INSTALLMENT SERVICE AND THOUGHT GOD HAS LOST HIS MIND. GAVE BIRTH DEC. 29, 2001 AND STILL THOUGHT GOD HAD A MADE A REAL HUGE MISTAKE. FOR THE NEXT 4 YEARS, I WORKED WITH MY HUSBAND TO BUILD & DEVELOP A MINISTRY THAT GOD FIRST WOULD BE PLEASED WITH. STILL, DEEP INSIDE I WAS FIGHTING WITH WHO GOD WAS CALLING ME TO BE. I MINISTERED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE YEAR OF 2004 AND HAVEN'T LOOKED BACK SINCE. I WORK FULL TIME IN THE MINISTRY WITH MY HUSBAND, HANDLING MORE OF THE BUSINESS SIDE, WHILE HE FOCUSES ON THE MINISTRY SIDE. MY HUSBAND IS FREE TO GO OUT AND MINISTER ON SUNDAYS BECAUSE HE KNOWS THAT I HAVE HIS BACK. FOR OUR FAMILY, IT HAS WORKED TO BOTH BE ABLE TO DO MINISTRY TOGETHER. FROM DAY ONE OF MY HUSBAND TAKING OVER, HE HAS ALWAYS PRESENTED ME BEFORE THE PEOPLE AS HIS ASSISTANT. OUR BYLAWS ARE WRITTEN, WHERE IF ANYTHING WAS TO HAPPEN TO HIM, IT IS CLEAR WHO WILL CONTINUE THE MINISTRY. AS MUCH AS I WOULD LOVE TO BE HOME AND NOT BE INVOLVED, I CAN'T BECAUSE I DIDN'T CHOSE MYSELF BUT GOD CHOSE ME. IT IS A BLESSING TO BE ABLE TO HAVE HUSBAND AND WIFE WITH THE CALL TO PASTOR. CURRENTLY, WE ARE WORKING ON OUR EAST LOCATION, WHICH I WILL PASTOR MYSELF.
I must say "God did it" for you!!! I'm sure it was overwhelming at first but I am sure that things calmed down after a while. I am glad that God is blessing your marriage and your ministry in such an awesome way. Sometimes we don't understand what God is doing, but I have found it best to just flow with God and it will be worth the trip.

Please continue to keep Him first and all will work for the best. Seek His kingdom first and all other things will be added unto you. The benefits of spouses in ministry together is the ability to grow in the word around the atmosphere of many brethren. There can a disadvantage. The both of you may be so wraped up in ministry, that you both would probably not have enough time for family, and each other.

The bible doesnt really say that, but you can get this conclusion from it. An overseer must manage his family first, then his ministry. If his family isnt in order, then how can he manage God's Church? So, his household must be under submission to him.
