I think it is very important that preachers of today need to be seminary trained .

i say that because there are no more dumb folk in the church and i feel that it is a sad day for the preacher if he has somebody in the congregation that knows more about the bible than the preacher. Also i feel that if the pulpit is dumb then the pews are dumb.

Well stated! I do agree with you Bishop Hyman that education definitely should be pushed more within the local church and within denominations and reformations. Too many preachers learn to quote Gen. 1:1 and then think they have arrived. Either that, or they will purchase their first clergy collar, and then they want to be an authority on something they are a novice on.

Education does not denote anointing, but the two complement each other well. Some get it through seminiary, other's get it through good teaching by a good teaching pastor (which is not always a given for all pastors). Some education is informal, while other forms are formal. Regardless, the same way faith without works is dead, so does education and anointing work hand in hand.

To The Hebrew Scholar: What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Okay!!!! You people study that which you study so that you can argue your case, as though you are standing in court, going against a Distict Attorney, just as if you are a public defender. If you are doing nothing wrong there is no need for a defense. Put the briefcase down, and step out of the courtroom.

Wow.... I'm glad Jesus doesn't require that . I've preached & taught for many years and seen a lot of people saved, etc. without that education.

One should want to further their education if they have that opportunity. The more we learn about the Lord, about Theology the more we can equip and educate the saints God entrusts us with. Before I preached my first sermon my Pastor told me to get some education. God gives the sermons but we still need to be educated. There are some things as a preacher that I don't know, so I have to educate myself. We should not be afraid to attend conferences and seminars as well. My Pastor has a degree and every year he attends at least 2 conferences to refresh his skills and to learn about how we as a church can progress for the betterment of the Kingdom. I would encourage all to seek further education if they can.

That's good, but what about those preachers who say, "If I go the Lord will speak for me." I think that has been taken out of its true meaning. When the Lord told Moses that we fail to look at the many years of education Moses had received. Training and education is a "MUST." How can God bring something back to your remembrance when you have nothing for God to work with?

One should be open to education. The church will only go as far as the Pastor can lead them. Preachers do need to be educated because we are preaching to educated and uneducated people. We can't deny the education because we can use paul as an example. Paul was highly educated but he still preached the Gospel. Last night, I read a bit on the profile of David. He was business saavy, a good steward, and while he was tending sheep God spoke too and educated David. I'm not sure why some preachers may feel they don't need additional education, but I would think if we are to be the mouthpiece of God, we must be educated in things of God and also be able to represent Him in the secular world as well. We may encounter situations where we need to be able to understand business or market place lingo in order to lead an executive or high profile person to Christ. We do need to be able to show others how they can take the Gospel and apply it to their businesses and or jobs. And yes, I have taught in front of people who have a greater understanding of the bible than I do. But what that showed me was that I needed to go back to my study closet. I needed to learn more- and still do.

But what you are suggesting has nothing to do with The Church, Market place lingo and strategum are not suppose to be part of the church. Yashuyahu never preached in such a venue to worry about money. But yet and still wasn't His disciples a Doctor,Tax collector, Fisherman, Levite, Pharisees. You all have "conformed to the ways of the world". These are the doctrines of the Pharisees.
David was the King not a Spiritual Leader, Samuel was that; and Eli's Children ostercised his position as being the Prophet of the Lord and caused his and their destruction by these same means. There is a Separattion between Financial, State and Ministry. In Deuteronomy it clearly states this time and again. Man Continually wants to rely on the natural means instead of on The One Who Is Able. You make "Vain Attemps" at grasping hold to "things". Where is your Faith? Where is your Knowledge of The Voice and Presence Of HaShem?

Amen glory glory glory hallelujah.... We all must know when we speak it is not us speaking but the Spirit speaking through us... We can have 10 degrees and with no anointing those degrees dont matter and dont mean a thing... Thank God for his power, anointing, wisdom, and knowledge... and all that he blesses us with....
