African American Churches and Foreign Missions

I am a African American missionary serving in Malawi, Africa. The last study done on African Americans serving full time in foreign missions discovered that less the 1% of those serving in foreign missions are African American. Why are more churches not involved in foreign missions and what can we do to can more churches involved in foreign missions?
