Okay, I see this title "Apostle" being thrown around alot.

So, let me see how many TRUE Apostles we have?!

How many of you "Apostles" have  documented proof that through you a miracle was performed?

I'm not talking a heradache going away. I'm talking about terminal illness being healed IMMEDIATELY?!

How many of you "Apostles" have raised someone from the dead I MEAN DOCUMENTED ON PAPER DEAD?!

Beware of all these titles in these last days they WILL be tested.

I'm patiently waiting for both of you then....

Here's the deal:

Ephesians 4:8  Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9  (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10  He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11  And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13  Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15  But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16  From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

God has given to us what we have come to call the five-fold ministry. He gave some pastors, teachers, evangelists, prophets, and apostles. Now we are quick to receive the pastor, the teacher, and the evangelist, but we deny the prophet and the apostle. These offices were mentioned in the same breath and the same scripture. These gifts were given to the new testament church till we all come in the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God. For the perfecting of the saints, the work of the ministry and the edifying of the body of Christ. Sirs, last I heard, we had not yet arrived. We still need perfecting and edifying. We have not yet come in the unity and the full knowledge of Christ. How is it that we are able to cherry pick the gifts? How is it that we are able to choose ourselves pastors and teachers and evangelists, and reject the prophets and the apostles who are a part of the team? Doubtful it is that the Chicago Bulls could ever win a game if they neglected to put two of it's players on the court. There are five on the court. How possible is a win with only three. As it is in the natural...

Thank you Rev. Watson. Your reply is both sensible and logical. I would even throw in the word sufficient. Your explanation is true, but your opinion

"there are no more apostles or prophets today because their job was to be the foundation of the church, and not to continue the church".

is questionable. They are the foundation of the church. The apostles and the prophets, the old and the new testaments. Now are we living epistles to be read by men daily. The church still need the corner stone, who Christ is, and we yet need foundation. Yes the prophet of old is gone, and so are the apostles, but the spirit of the apostle remains even as the spirit of the prophet, that we might benefit by these gifts in our time as well. We still need foundation. How can one know the mind of a prophet except by that spirit that was in him? But we have the spirit of Christ. The same spirit which was in Christ teaches us with that same anointing that he taught the twelve that we might abide in the apostles doctrine, to do the works that were done by them and by Christ. Jesus initially chose twelve apostles but we plainly see there were thirteen. What's the deal? How do you whether or not the apostles appointed successors. Many things they wrought went unrecorded. You have great knowledge my brother. This I do not doubt, But your knowledge is not all pure. It has been laced with the concepts of men and have been contaminated by your own opinions. It is simply your opinion that God don't still utilize prophets and Apostles. Did God tell you he have no further need of them?...hmmm...maybe he did, with that same clear voice he used to tell you that it's time for uneducated black preachers to die out!
