Be A Good Worker
As a representative of Jesus Christ you are to demonstrate what His redemption can do in changing people. The life, love, and ability of God should flow through you -- making you a witness to all those around you.
Whatever You Do
We must approach all work as though we were doing that work for Jesus.
17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,
24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
Is Work A Curse?
God created man and told him to work in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:15). Work itself is not a curse. The curse in Genesis 3:17-19, consists of the trouble man shall have while living and working on earth. By God's gracious help you can overcome those difficulties.
Jesus Christ spent most of His time on earth working as a carpenter. What higher endorsement of the value of work could we possibly have?
3 "Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?" And they were offended at Him.
Be Submissive
1 PETER 2:18-20 NKJ
18 Servants, be submissive to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh.
19 For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully.
20 For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer for it, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.
5 Servants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ;
6 not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,
7 with good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men,
Do your best to be a blessing wherever you work. Do more than you are paid for, or expected to do.
God Will Pay You
God is your source. He can supply through many channels. Your business or employer is only one of God's channels -- not your source.
8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.
23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,
24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
God Gives Ability
EXODUS 35:30-35 NKJ
30 And Moses said to the children of Israel, "See, the Lord has called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah;
31 "and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and understanding, in knowledge and all manner of workmanship,
32 "to design artistic works, to work in gold and silver and bronze,
33 "in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of artistic workmanship.
34 "And He has put in his heart the ability to teach, in him and Aholiab . . . .
35 "He has filled them with skill to do all manner of work of the engraver and the designer and the tapestry maker, in blue and purple and scarlet and fine linen, and of the weaver -- those who do every work and those who design artistic works.
God gives all of us different abilities to do different tasks. In the place God created you for, things will flow and you will enjoy your work. If you have not found that place yet, be diligent to do your best, ask God to help you, and keep praying.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them . . .
God Will Help You
The Greater One is in you. He will help you on your job.
1 JOHN 4:4 NKJ
4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
JOHN 14:26 NKJ
26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
Ask for God's help and guidance in every task you do. He will help you.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,
13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
Especially Bless Believers
2 And those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brethren, but rather serve them because those who are benefited are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.
No matter whom you work for, you should do your best. That is even more important if your employer is also a believer.
Do not expect your employer to be perfect -- no one is. Your concern is not what your employer does -- but how you respond, and what you do.
You will be judged for what you do -- not what others do.
