Can Christians Be In Positions Of Authority In A Secular Job Setting?

I have known a few that "get caught up" in what their secular boss wants them to do and they end of serving the company instead of God, perhaps due to fear of losing their job, they want more promotions, more money,  becoming badgering to employees to please the boss,  etc.  Sometimes when Christians get into positions of authority a hissing sound starts happening.
