CONVERSION and SALVATION: Are they the same thing or significantly different?

Is there a difference between conversion and salvation?

THE SECOND BIG QUESTION:

Why is baptism required for the remission of sins if the work on the cross was a "finished" work?

A not so big question:

Why would baptism be so important to... Jews (and then Gentiles)???
Another question... where is the scripture that explains why God made man with a "will"?
Hi Minister Tracy,

That is a good question ..and raises another

Is there any scripture to suggest that God made man with free will?
*Big Smile*

A new thread perhaps?
Rev. Luckett, most preachers and teachers don't like me because I question the things they want me to blindly accept. I don't say they are wrong, just ask why the dots connect or don't connect. Most preachers and teachers will give you just one dont and send you out.

I ESPECIALLY ask questions when there "seems" to be contradiction in the Bible.. but there really isn't.

I don't go by the the this scripture says this but this scripture says something different so I pick the scripture that best fits what I understand or what I have been taught. I go by the whole cannon. If the OT offered us shadows and types of things to come... when those things came shouldn't we refer back to the OT prophecy or foundation of that which has come?

So my questions about baptism is not just about salvation but about the FOUNDATION on which baptism was built. I have never said baptism was not necessary for the Believer nor have I ever said it wasn't written in scriptures that it was for the remission of sins. But what I do say is that the Bible tells us MORE than the one scripture that we so strongly base baptism on. God's word gives us a COMPLETE picture that is absolutely beautiful.

If we take that one scripture in acts to base our decision for baptism on... then the most obvious questions comes to mind....

Acts 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

If this is our basis for baptism... then why was Jesus baptized? Its an obvious question
Yes Rev Luckett I did get off track. I guess it is because when I looked at conversion vs salvation in judaism it pointed to immersion in water for conversion.

The study also incuded ritual purification by immersion in water for sins committed.

And the study also revealed so much more...but I gotta go. My hubby Leigh-bear is taking me out on a date. (Smile)
Conversion is the simple act of going from one state of being, to a whole new direction. Salvation comes after conversion.
Good Morning James,

How is one converted from one state to the other?
Good Morning James,

And why do people think it is the same as salvation?
Morning Minister,

Conversion is kinda like repentance. You are turning from your sins in repentance. You are converting from a way of life to a new way of life. Peter said in the book of Acts to repent and convert. Turn from your sins and turn to the lifestyle HaShem has set for us. I am not sure why people think salvation is the same as conversion.
Simply put conversion means to Turn From and to Turn Too, - Speaking of mans Sin nature/actions
Salvation means to be rescued or Delivered from the penality of Sin -freely given by Christ Jesus/atoned by his shed Blood
The Bibles says we are slaves to sin. Picture yourself talking to a person who is actually a slave with a Master or a prisoner of war.

You are talking to them in the midst of their present captivity. The slave has some liberties and can walk around but the prisoner is bound in chains and can't move around.

Explain salvation to that slave or prisoner by answering the following questions: (use scripture as part of your answer)

Explain how the slave or prisoner is bound?

Explain how the slave or prisoner is saved / delivered?

Explain how the slave or prisoner is converted?

Explain how the slave or prisoner repents?
