Faith As A Mustard Seed – Faith AS A ---AS A – Not the Size of A Mustard Seed!

Throughout the gospel, Jesus preached about having faith in God. Matthew 17:20 says, “…if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” This is not talking about a little faith, however is said A Mustard Seed has faith.
Let us stay with this point for a moment
Let’s take a close look at this important statement that is often misunderstood. It says, “If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed.” It did not say if you have faith as the size of a grain of mustard seed. It says a mustard seed has faith. A grain of mustard like most of God’s creations, knows its purpose.
The purpose of a mustard seed is defined in Genesis 1: 12. It says, “And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that is was good.”
The mustard seed knows its purpose. It produces after its kind and the seed is within itself.
The first test of faith for a mustard seed is when it is planted into the ground. A mountain is placed on top of it.
The mustard seed asks for water and then receives it.
Next the germination process commences.
Roots go into the soil.
A stem peaks at the top of the grain and the grain of mustard seed is confronted with its first mountain.
The mustard seed says, “I must go through that mountain because there is a light on the other side.”
The mustard seed says, “I am coming” and the mountain opens up and lets it through.
Next the stem peaks through the earth and sees the sunlight and then praises the Lord.
The mustard plant receives its daily bread and begins to grow.
It becomes more rooted and grounded because it knows that the more it matures the more responsibilities it will have.
As the mustard plant continues to grow, it is faced with the storms of life. The wind begins to blow, and the rain falls. Nevertheless, the mustard plant is rooted and grounded. Therefore it just moves backward and forward, as the storms come.
Then the mustard plant provides shelter to the birds; food for insects and men.
Then the mustard plant produces it seeds. The mustard seed knows its purpose. If we had faith as a mustard seed, we would move the mountains in our lives.

Faith as a grain of mustard seed We can see that each one of us who does what Jesus commanded us to do, to love the Lord, thy God with all thy heart, thy soul, and thy might and to love one another as we love ourselves, abide in his word, and have faith as a grain of mustard seed. Nothing shall be impossible unto you and any thing you ask our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus should be done.

In Matthew 21:21 - 22, Jesus answered and said unto them, “Verily I say unto you, if ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. (22) And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Allow me to share this experience with you. On September 22, 2002, early in the morning about 4:00 A. M. after studying the word of God, and having a personal praise and worship period, honoring our Father and our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, I returned to bed to sleep for several more hours. However, I could not fall asleep because I heard the sound of a cricket in the house. The cricket was making a very loud clicking noise. After about ten minutes, I realized the sound of this cricket would not allow me to fall asleep. So I got onto my feet and raised my hands and praised God. I said something to the effect of “God the creator of all things” to include the little cricket. I commanded in the name of Jesus that the little cricket to keep silent or go somewhere else. However, the cricket kept on making the loud clicking noise. Then I went to the corner of the room where I thought the cricket was located. Again, I lifted my hands and commanded that the cricket be silent in the name of Jesus or it would surely die. The cricket made the clicking noise for a split second. After that I did not hear another sound from the cricket. I returned to bed and had sweet sleep. When I awoke; I went to the corner of the room where the cricket was. There I discovered a dead cricket in the corner of the room. This is a true story. I did not want to kill the cricket. However, I had faith that God would silence the cricket.
I have not heard the sound of a cricket in the house since September 22, 2002.

I pray in the name of Jesus – which you know your purpose and understand that God is faithful to every one on His promises. Yes, without faith you cannot please God, however, if you have faith as a mustard seed God has given you power in the name of Jesus to move every mountain that comes you way – every mountain – every mountain.

May God bless and keep you.
