how are we educating our family and friends about financial matters?

In your househould do you have a spending plan and a saving plan?  This question has plagued me when I look over my finances and talk to others.  Most say I can not afford it or it cost too much. I wonder if we had known that the economy was going to flipflop, how would we have spent our resources differently.  Although I made unwise choices, today I am placing my finances in order with tithing, savings, pay off my debts and researching my spending and asking the question do i really need it and do i love it before parting with my hard earned dollars. If you were given an extra $500 per month how would you spend it?
