Dr. Brown, the only ones struggling with this are the same sex couples who are denied legal marriage and their children whose family system is constantly attacked by some Christians.

Minister Gerald Palmer, While Jesus died & Loved everyone, so do we.. The Bible is clear on Marriage. We cant compromise the World for anyone. Thats why as a Pastor we work hard on living for God to include  our secret lives that we want have to change the Word to fit our life style & hinder & lead so many people wrong & into confusion. We love everyone & while we respect your opinion we only agree with Gods true Word not someones  version. The Standard & morals of many , Pastors & Men & Women of God is so low today  we cant Minister the Word as we should. Jesus is not only Preached, but lived even in our secret lives.

Again, legal marriage is a state thing for one has to get a Marriage License from their City Hall not their church.  To be honest with you, most of what I see on pages like this is people's opinions and not scripture in context.

Only on Saturdays. Silly answer right? Silly question.  I don't have to be gay to noticed when something is wrong.  I don't have to be gay to know that legal marriage is not a church issue.

You seem to forget who set up governments.God did, therefore He is still sovereign in the affairs of men. It sounds like you are hiding from it. Jesus said it would be like it was in the days of Noah. Today we are experiencing that prophecy. We had a sodomite attend our church at one time. I was told by one of our Elders that he said he had the utmost respect for me because I told him the truth and did not sugar coat anything. I embraced him yet at the same time let him know that his life style was an abomination to God. he knows he can always reach me. We are so afraid of being not politically correct and offending people we cow down to them. God not destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, there was Pompey, Roman Empire and other civilations because of sexual depravity. America is headed down the same direction. Anytime a "minister" gets in a pulpit and supports gay rights he has become an enemy of God. There is no such thing as gay rights. it is a demonic choice, therefore making it church business. Don't hide behind that cliche it is government. It is God; business

The spiritual question regarding marriage has already been decided by the word of God. Both old and new testament scriptures are clear regarding the marital unions. Also, Paul dealt with marriage in many of his epistles. Genesis 2:24 - Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Matthew 19:5 - And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Matthew 19:6 - Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

The 'Church' knows what's riight; in that earthly Marriage represents the spiritual union of Christ and the Church.
The 'Church has an unique opportunity to educate it's parrishioners and not to condemn them. No need for debate.
Take the time to explain the purpose of the white dress, the processional, the vows ( explain forsaking all others).
Give a class and help those who are marride to stay together. It has been stated that the divorce rate of church folks is the same as those who are unchurched. The 'Church' has not done a good job on this issue for either side.

Christ spoke in parables to explain complex truths in simple ways. He used the simple things to confound the wise.
The harvest is ripe for the 'Church' because many do not understand the spiritual side or signifigance for marriage. They understand very well the the legal or legitimate side, especially as it relates to health benefits, divorce, wills, deeds etc.

I'm personally not oppose to domestic partners (legal partners, covenant partners, playmates, signifigant others or whatever) having all the legal rights as marride folk, but I am oppose to them calling it marriage. It's not. If it's not the original definition of a man and a woman; then pick your own title and definition of what you have, and tried to be productive. Don't call it marriage. God will not be mocked.
