Is an unmarried women suppsoed to submit to her pastor as she would to her husband?

I had a pastor tell me that because I am divorced that I am suppsoed to submit to him like I would my husband.

If I had known that was his teaching I would NEVER have joined because I would NEVER marry him.

I told him that I would submit to him as I would any leader "who has rule over me", but that the submission that I had toward my husband was not nearly the same and that his twisting of the scriptures were insulting and disgusting.

BTW he was a former pimp and "used to" beat his wife.

What ya'll think?

You were right in what you said to him, especially since he is an ex pimp and wife beater. Check out the link below and you will see what I'm talking about.

It is great that you have the discernment to know his intentions. The scripture never said that single women should submit to pastors as they would a husband. Submit to true pastoral authority yes, but not as you would a husband.
Go and asked his wife if you are suppose to submit to him in this manner
No
