Isaiah 30:1 says Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin.

This is a warning to ALL of us that call ourselves coverings and pastors whose motives are to gain finances and a name for ourselves. You will be brought to shame as Pharoah did. Those that use their platforms as dictatorships and not leadership.(form of slavery/bondage)

Humbly preach the kingdom of God and Him crucifies and the Lord was bring increase, blessings and everything that He promised you.

God bless!

So many religious leaders claim to be a "spiritual covering" over congregations. Yet this post is so silent. . . .

Throughout Scripture, God is referred to as our Spiritual Covering. He is the only One who is Infallible, Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omniscient - and therefore is the only One who is qualified to be our Spiritual Covering. How dangerous and foolish it is to trust in a mere human of flesh and blood, who stumbles, who is prone to error, who doesn't know what tomorrow will bring, and whose life is but a vapor, who can be unfaithful and disappoint you. Only our Eternal God is worthy of being trusted in such a manner.

The idea that a mere man (no matter how spiritual you think he is) can cover your very SOUL with a spiritual forcefield of protection, is mysticism, occult, paganism. It's "Christian" science-fiction-fantasy. Not BIBLICAL at all. And is actually contrary to Jesus Christ and His Word. I would even venture to say that trusting in a church leader for "covering" is antichrist - because it goes against Christ, opposes Him and His teachings, and also puts a man IN THE PLACE OF Christ (one of the definitions of the word "antichrist" is "to stand in the place of Christ"). And isn't that what these leaders are doing when they exalt themselves over congregations as "spiritual coverings"? Yes.

The covering doctrine opens the door to top-down control from leadership, spiritual manipulation, and 1-way submission (rather than mutual submission). It is a power-posturing doctrine, which puts the leader in the place of God. Isn't that what Satan desired in his heart in Isaiah 14:12-15? Yes. He said in his heart, that he wanted to be as the Most High God and be exalted on the mount (the highest point) of the congregation. So who do you think inspired this covering doctrine? The Holy Spirit? Not. The Spirit of Satan/Antichrist inspired this covering doctrine which exalts man to the place of God over the congregation, and seduces ppl to trust in mere human beings, rather than trust in Jesus Christ.

The Egyptians trusted in Pharaoh and their various other false gods for "covering." And the Israelites trusted in king Saul and other leaders (read Ezekiel 34 to see how that turned out for them). Many church ppl trust in their leaders for covering. Both the leaders who claim to be "coverings" and the ppl who trust in them need to repent, and trust in the Lord only. King David said "the Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want." This should be the Psalm of every Believer's heart in regards to Spiritual Covering, Shepherding, and Teaching. Our hearts should trust in Christ alone. Peter called Him the Bishop of his soul.
