Some people here believe upon "Sola Scriptura", which means "By Scriptures Only". By definition, the Bible becomes their sole authority. This sounds good, but there is a problem: if you believe in "Sola Scriptura", then you must forfeit your belief in the Charismatic gifts (tongues, prophetic utterances, laying on of hands, Apostles, Prophets, angelic visitations, ect...). This extremist doctrine developed to counter the extremist doctrine that Pope Leo X used during the days of Martin Luther.

So the RAW QUESTION is: do you believe that GOD still does the miraculous, and that HE can use you to perform it? Do you believe in a GOD that still speaks Prophetically not only through His written word, but vocally by the mouth of His servants today (NOT JUST SERMONS)?

With this question, I especially direct this towards the Baptist believers for reasons that may be obvious, but not meant to be offensive, to them..........

What is a Sermon?

Let's define it

Webster Dictionary: Sermon (sur'men) (n.) a speechon religion or morals

So, a Sermon is a speech. It is not reading the Bible. How can you learn about the Bible listening to someone's speech on 1 verse per week.
Hez, take your garbage to the next room please! Why on Earth do you persist with the foolishness???????
Trevor,

It's like talking to James all over again. You would have a better chance at talking to a 6th grader; at least you will have someone who is willing to listen with some level of reasoning and what they don't understand, they will ask an intelligent question rather than trying to condemn you with false statements of their beliefs.
Chaplain,

My my.. talk to someone whom you can trick easily! How evil.
You double talk Sister Harris. You go from admitting that we need to keep the commandments, to going back on your word, and saying it is a belief, and not a law of God.
Keeping the commandments is to keep the Commandments of Jesus:

1. Love the Lord God with all your heart, mind and soul.
2. Love your neighbor as yourself.

On these 2 commandments lay all the laws of the prophets.
Chaplain,

Read Deut 6:5 & Lev 19:18, and then tell me if they are "Jesus" commandments.
How do you love the Lord with all your heart, mind, and soul?

By loving your neighbor as you love yourself.

How do you love your neighbor as you love yourself?

You don't kill him, steal from him, lie to him or on him, covet is belongings, commit adultery with his wife. You honor you mother and Father, keep the Sabbath Holy, Have no other Gods before the God of Israel, don't take the Lord's name in vain, and have no graven images or idols. Love is the fulfillment of the Law.

1John 5:1-3 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
Jesus Commandments: Matthew 22:37-39

1. Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. This deals with your relationship with God.

- By obeying this commandment, you will be obeying the following first 4 commandments of the Ten Commandments: (1) Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (2) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. (3) Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. (4) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

2. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. This deals with your relationship to mankind.

- By obeying this commandment, you will be obeying the last 6 commandments of the Ten Commandments: (5) Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. (6) Thou shalt not kill. (7) Thou shalt not commit adultery. (8) Thou shalt not steal. (9) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. (10) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
