The prophet Zephaniah warned King Josiah of global disaster, receiving what he heard the king started a reform to reestablish the Mosaic Laws in 622 BC. King Josiah died in 609 AD leaving his son Jehoahaz as successor who led the nation back into idolatry, in 586 BC the Babylonians invaded and destroyed Jerusalem. The Temple was burned and destroyed much of the walls were also torn down. This was a partial fulfillment of the prophecy,with more still to come inasmuch today’s generation still not will to walk in the commandments of God. Today the erroneous teachings of Law vs. Grace make many stumble to the point of death. Yahshua said Mat 5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to complete”. He will return to judge by fire all who does not receive His Holy Spirit. Yahshua said Mat 15:24 “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Isra’ĕl.”
Zep 1:2 “I shall snatch away all from the face of the earth,” declares יהוה –
Zep 1:3 “I snatch away man and beast, I snatch away the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, and the stumbling-blocks, with the wrong, when I shall cut off man from the face of the earth,” declares יהוה.
Zep 1:4 “And I shall stretch out My hand against Yehudah, and against all the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, and cut off every trace of Baal from this place, the names of the idolatrous priests, with the priests,
Yahweh Has declared to Zephaniah He was going to destroy all from the face of the earth which includes man. People of the earth rebelled against the Laws of Moses by not keeping them. Yahweh in verse 3 gave a reverse order from the way He created all things and now will destroy all in that order. This is still incomplete until the culmination of the day of wrath (The Lord Day) Rev 20:14 death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death.1 Footnote: 1See 2:11, 20:6, 21:8. I snatch away man and beast, birds, fish, and the stumbling-blocks, with the wrong. This represents the reversed order from Gen: 1; notice the stumbling blocks (Satan, fallen angles) destroyed last along with the wrong (unrighteous of man) this is the 2nd death Rev 21:8, because man is appointed to die once Heb 9:27. Cleansing of the earth has begun starting with Jerusalem. He has also promised restoration ending with chp3; only a wise God can do this through the blood of the slain Lamb.
Jerusalem has now been restored to the land of Israel in 1948 AD recently celebrated in 2008, 60 years of being back in the land. From 586BC to 2009 AD= 2595 years Judah the southern tribe is back and still struggle to stay in the land, their initial return 70 years later 516 AD was followed by disobedience to the Laws of Moses. One thing I would like to make clear is when Yahweh speaks it will come to past so we must not discount any word He has given. In other words death is not always immediate, death can begin with disease, or death of a marriage, finances, health and nor is it limited to one culture. The entire fore mentioned are prevalent today in every country along with plagues, epidemic, pandemic and famine. To every generation Yahweh says return to the old path which is the Torah (Laws of Moses) or the teachings and instructions of God. Jer 6:16 ask for the old paths, and walk in it; and find rest for yourselves. But they said, ‘We do not walk in it.’
Zep 3:8 “Therefore wait for Me,” declares יהוה, “until the day I rise up for plunder. For My judgment is to gather nations, to assemble reigns, to pour out on them My rage, all my burning wrath. For by the fire of My jealousy all the earth shall be consumed.
Zep 3:9 “For then I shall turn unto the peoples a clean lip1, so that they all call on the Name of יהוה, to serve Him with one shoulder. Footnote: 1Or language.
Judgment Day is coming for every nation and will culminate in fire just as He said when He destroyed it with water (Noah). The only escape is to be found doing the commandments including the 7th Day Sabbath along with the 7 annual Sabbaths Lev:23. In Zep 3:9 Yahweh said he will return a clean lip or language to His people this also has begun, no other language in history has been lost for the time Hebrew has been as it was killed off made such a return. Could it be that Yahweh intends to reverse what He destroyed (language) at the Tower of Babel?
Zep 3:4 Her prophets are reckless, treacherous men. Her priests have profaned the set-apart place, they have done violence to the Law1. Footnote: 1Ezek. 22:26, Lk. 16:16.
Zep 3:7 “I have said, ‘Only fear Me, accept instruction.’ And her dwelling would not be cut off, all that I have appointed for her. But they rose up early, they corrupted all their deeds.
Zep 3:12 “But I shall leave in your midst an oppressed and poor people, and they shall trust in the Name of יהוה.
Zep 3:20 “At that time I shall bring you in, even at the time I gather you, for I shall give you for a name, and for a praise, among all the peoples of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes,” said יהוה.
Yahweh will complete what He has started; the prophecy as told to Zephaniah has already begun and will continue through each generation until the Great Day of Yahweh. He relayed to Zephaniah how he plans to destroy His creation by spreading through out the four directions beginning with Jerusalem then Philistia west, Moab & Ammond east, Egypt South, Assyria to the north (Eze 38,39 Gog Magog) this seem to be the next major destruction today this generation will see. In the end Jerusalem will be for a praise in all the earth, restored by the hand of Yahweh and Yahshua the King of righteousness will reign over the earth.
