At physical death the fleshly body goes back to dust (Gen. 3:19) it remains dead (separated from the inner man Spirit and Soul) (1 Cor. 15:35-54) At physical death the Spirit will return upwards to God (Psalm 103:14; Ecc3:19-21) and the soul will continue alive being immortal either in a place of rest or hell waiting for the judgement (Luke 16:22-23)
