I only know two true definitions for the word “fool”, and I agree with them both. The first regards a person who has convinced himself that there is no God. The second depict those who take a course of action that their relatives and peers would NEVER consider. So, even though I don’t qualify as a fool under the first definition, I cannot escape being one under the second. And, instead of wasting time fighting the label with over-pronounced normalcy, I believe I will embrace it for radical progress.

Being labeled a fool is not synonymous with being wrong. While some fools are certainly on a slippery path of destruction; others are paving a better way to fulfillment. You just have to cope with the fact that average people cannot discern the quality of your foolishness until it manifests itself in historic success. And, you have to encourage yourself with the knowledge that the God you aim to please in spiritual alignment rewards those who don’t mind being called, “foolish”.

I recently told my foolish self that I stood to lose a lot of life long good friends if I followed the path God showed me. And, the fool in me talked back and said, “If they were the good ones, we can stand better.” That was actually good wisdom, so I let the fool continue his sermon. This is what he said:

If it takes a fool to know that the God who created every human unique requires a unique life from every human, I’m glad to be one.

If is takes a fool to chase the horizon and discover new solutions to persistent problems, I’m glad to be one.

If it takes a fool to leave the circle of complacency and climb the mountain of hope for a broader vision of destiny, I’m glad to be one.

If it takes a fool to escape the trap of human dysfunction and exercise the powers of personal dominion intended for all of mankind, I’m glad to be one.

A Christian song of old enacting the voice of God, says: “If you don’t mind being called foolish, and if you don’t mind being called simple; Maybe I’ll have a chance to be seen in your life.” Well, the fool in me says… Let’s do this!
