Luke 14:20
And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

The wrong relationships will keep us from hearing the voice of God, from recognizing the promptings of God, and from knowing what is vital and essential to be and do righteousness.

Mark 4:25
For he that hath,(ears to hear) to him shall be given: and he that hath not, (ears to hear) from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

When we pray in the spirit, we must have ears to hear, or we will not hear correctly from God. We seek God for things at hand and desire to hear His voice and get instruction from Him. We have ears to hear for what it is we want to hear, but have not ears to hear in other arenas of life, because we know we need to make changes. Therefore what we have will be taken away, not by God, but by the enemy, John 10:10.

When we don’t have ears to hear in every arena of life, it’s like we have opened the door of our life, and invited the thief in. A thief will ravage and violate your life and leave you empty when you let him in.

Those who don’t have ears to hear are those who pray in the Spirit until they hit that soft spot where the Spirit begins to deal with them, at that point they back out of the Spirit because they are not willing to make those necessary changes. From him shall be taken away that which he has.

Those that do not have ears to hear are building their life on the sand. Sand is an element of the natural world that has no substance. It’s unstable in itself and therefore can’t withstand the wind and rain. Matthew 7:24-27.

He who has ears to hear is he who is a doer of the Word, James 1:22, who is building his life on what he hears (the Word) which has strength, unlimited, immeasurable, and surpassing greatness of power that not just withstands, but rules and reigns the storms that come, Ephesians 1:19.

Matthew 5:6
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

The Word “blessed” translates empowered to prosper. I believe we could say it this way, “They that hunger and thirst after God’s way of doing and being right, shall be empowered to be filled with God‘s way of doing and being right.”

We will not be filled with something we are not hungry for. When we associate with people who do not hunger after the righteousness of God this will deaden our hunger for it.

As ministers we must be cautious about who we fellowship with, relationships, situations etc. We will develop an appetite for those things that we allow our self to think on, and engage in. If we think God thoughts we will develop an appetite for Him, His Word and His cause. God takes pleasure in the prosperity of those who favor His righteous cause, Psalm 35:27.

If we pastors are carnal we will raise up carnal people. If this be the case our church will be put in the category of a “flesh” church. We can’t lead our people into a place we are not headed for. We can’t point our people in a direction that we ourselves cannot see.

If one can’t heed the Master’s voice and follow because he has married a wife, or in a relationship with someone, then he is in a wrong marriage or relationship. The deception of the enemy is great in these situations. Everyday he gives us new ways to justify. He works as a little defense attorney on the inside of us. When our spirit man convicts our heart to follow after God in a certain arena, this inner being rises up and defends it’s place in us by giving us new ways to justify our sin. We then feel justified and conclude that God understands. Yes, He does: He understands that we are rejecting His ways.

Many will read this message and say amen, but continue in their life of sin, feeling justified.

Sin will keep you longer than you intended to stay - Sin will take you farther than you intended to go - Sin will cost you more than you have to pay.

Can you really fund your sin? Ministers, do you have such a vast anointing that you can afford to lose some everyday you play? Can you really afford the wage of death?
