How do you refuel? God is concerned about you. He wants you to know He loves you...not for what you DO. Remember Christ died for us while we were still sinners. He gave the ultimate sacrifice to us when we did not even acknowledge His existence. His death provided immediate benefits - one of which is REST.

Everybody's tired! Including me. Like most, I wear many hats. I am a mother, a daughter, a sister, a preacher, a friend, an employee, a business owner, a churchmember, an activist, a writer. All of these relationships require time and energy to manage and sustain. Herein lies the question: Can I get some time?

Today's most precious commodity is time. Europe is instituting a four-day work week. Closer to home, the state of Utah is doing the same. Other's will soon follow suit. Of course, the hope is that this will save on energy and give us a little more time in our weeks. But will it give us "rest"?

God, in His omnicience, instituted the Sabbath for His people. Listed in the Ten Commandments, God told them not to do anything on the seventh day of the week. Even the animals were to rest. It was a commandment to rest for at least one day. It was just that serious. Why? The Sabbath is a foreshadow of the eternal rest that is to come for the believer and a type of the rest available for the believer today. The rest that comes from knowing we have the God of the universe in our corner ready and available whenever we need Him. When we refuse the rest God offers, we are messing with His message of love, eternality, and concern. When the world sees the Christian as tired and worn out as they are, they wonder what's the benefit to this "Christianity" thing.

Therefore, I beseech you brethren (highly encourage you), to institute the Sabbath rest in your own life. Of course it is no longer a law so the day of week and the methods may change but the principle remains the same.

1. Spend your energy in the right direction. One way to tackle the Tired Syndrome is to live life ON PURPOSE. If the activity is not a priority, don't waste time on it. Color your world: RED - must do; YELLOW - priority activity but not a must for today; GREEN - a desire but not a priority.

2. The Sabbath requires planning. For no work to be done on the Sabbath, the Israelites had to cook and prepare a day ahead. Do the same thing. Prepare the food, call your friends, and alert the family the day before--Tomorrow the family is taking a rest from work. Get everyone into it. Next Sabbath you won't have to tell the family, they'll remind you!

3. Don't do everything alone. Let others help you. Contrary to public opinion, you don't have to do it all (whatever it is). Delegate those things you could do but are not REDs. Look around and see who God has placed in your corner to assist you. Open up your eyes and LOOK.Open up your mouth and ASK.Open up your mind and CONSIDER. (Trade babysitting with another couple for a date night out)

4. Meditate 1st thing in the morning. Drink a hot beverage, pray, consider what should be the day's priorities while its still dark (or whatever is good for you).

5. Discover your energy input? What feeds you? What fills your tank when it's empty? Who pours into you?

6. Make sure to exercise, eat right, and get regular physical check-ups.

But most of all, remember God is the FIRST person who cared enough to institute a NATIONAL "YOU" DAY. He cared enough to give you a day off, now care enough about yourself to try and make it a reality in your life.

Hey, let me know how it goes for you. Giving myself permission to rest has changed my life. If you have examples of how you refuel, make sure to comment. Your words could help someone else. Need some help, comment and ask for it. I pray for all of you to experience God's best in your lives.

Resting in His arms,

Blessings Min. Winters. Just wanted you to know that this really blessed me. I am so in agreement. I am a true believer on getting rest and honoring the Sabbath. We really can't be effective in the things that we do if we are worn and burnt out. It will cause us to lose our joy and tenacity. So, God Bless You and the work of your hands.

Sis. Shonda
Praise God for you! I have to schedule myself into my day. God honors us so I have learned to honor myself through the disciplines of meditation, fasting, Scripture memorization, and rest. In this fast-paced world, we have to train our mind to live accordig to God's Word and not the worlds.
