Bishop J.D. Washington has been blessed with many gifts ranging from music to speaking. He is an accomplished musician, songwriter, actor, producer, talk show host, and Bishop in the Lord’s church. He is extremely versed in seven different instruments ranging from piano to brass instruments. He began playing at the age of five and instructed his first choir at the age of 15.

The Musician and Entertainer

Professionally, God has blessed this young man to play, sing and work with some of the world’s best gospel and secular artists. In 2002, he released his first solo project entitled, “In His Presence” which ministered to the inner spirit of man’s heart. He was also featured as a guest host on the New York television show, Gospel Showcase and has recently toured with the nationwide gospel stage play, Michael McCorkle’s, “A Change Has Come”. His latest accomplishment is his radio broadcast, the Power2Live Show with Dr. John, which has taken off all over the country via WIGOAM 1570AM “The Light” out of Atlanta, GA., with future plans of syndication on 7 stations in 7 cities, as well as, premier internet stations.

The Educational Experience

His educational accomplishments include undergraduate work at Morgan State University in 1984 were studied under Dr. Nathan Carter and sang with the world renowned Morgan State University Choir. He is a 1990 alumnus of Strayer University with an earned degree in Computer Science. He also has an earned Masters and Ph.D. in Theology from the North Carolina College of Theology.

The Call

From music ministry to speaking, Bishop J.D. Washington was called to the ministry in 1988 and served as an Associate Minister of the Holy Temple Cathedral, Church of God International, Inc., in Annapolis, Maryland under the leadership of Bishop Wilbert L. Baltimore, D.D. Bishop Washington was ordained in 1994 and was appointed Assistant to the Bishop for over seven years. He also served as the Minister of Music and Fine Arts Ministry for over 10 years and National Minister of Music and Fine Arts for King’s Apostle Church World Ministries, Incorporated for over six years. Such preparation had effectively led him to establish his own church where he was the Senior Pastor of the Church of Life in Harrisburg, PA., for 7 years. He is the Dean and President of the Life Center College of Theology. Bishop also oversees numerous churches and ministries across the nation. He is the Senior Pastor of the Kingdom Church in Vista, CA and Power House Church in Staten Island, NY. Additionally, he is the Presiding Prelate of the The Nation Fellowship Movement.

Bishop Washington’s compassion coupled with entertaining, moving, powerful and spirit-led Bible-based preaching along with uplifting stories, simple examples, common sense and straight-forward talk is what catches his listener’s attention. His gift as a speaker, facilitator and coordinator is evident in his annual conferences, seminars, workshops, and crusades, which are designed to train, equip and empower men and women in leadership roles to become better ministry leaders.

Dr. John’s Ongoing Purpose

His primary purpose is to help people reach their God-given potential by moving them forward towards their destiny and equip them to live a full life in Christ. He believes in winning souls by using extraordinary techniques that will leave a lasting impression on those that are lost while encouraging those that are broken.
