Doing Humanity’s Dirty Work!

… rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death—
even death on a cross! (Phil 2:7-8)

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Pet 2:24)

It was the dirtiest job, but someone had to do it! Someone had to take care of the sins, the moral filth, the atrocities, and the sicknesses and diseases of humanity! – Jesus took the job!
He became one of us. He went even beyond and became a slave. As a slave he was beaten on our behalf to make healing available to everybody. He carried all sins of all people of all generations to the cross and paid with His own life. With His sacrifice he “made perfect forever those who are being made holy” (Heb 10:14).
Jesus did our dirty work and made us perfect forever! What an exchange, what love, what wonder, what grace on Good Friday!
