- God saved me at the age of 13. I can remember being told that particular day by my mother that I was not to join that church. The church was a baptist church, and my mother is the granddaughter of Methodist minister. I'm not certain if that was why she told us not to join, but none the less she told us not to join. She didn't give me an explanation as to why I was not to join, because back then parents were not required to give explanations as to why they required their children to do a thing. During those days my mother didn't take us to church a lot, and we had no church affiliation during that time, but my grandmother, my father's mother did TAKE us to church. The baptist church we were told not to join, was my grandmother's church. She is the one who took us to church that summer night. Anywho...There I sat on the mourners bench with my sister and others, and something on the inside, like fire in my bones compelled me to join that baptist church. When I took the step to join, I didn't feel like I was being disobedient to my mother, as I was being obedient to the Holy Spirit. And speaking of obedience to the Holy Spirit, Listening to the Holy Spirit was not that easy when it came time for accepting my calling. I was told when I was 28 yrs old that I was a preacher; I was told that I was anointed, strangers were coming up to me telling me that the anoiting was all over me; I didn't know what that was, and at the time didn't care; I had a friend tell me that I was a preacher, and I thought he was crazy, and like Peter, when they asked him if he was one of Jesus' boys, I cussed that individual to prove to them that I was not a preacher. Well, I'm back from Tarshish, and I accepted my call in October of 2005.Now, I realize that I'm a walking epistle, and I must walk worthy of that calling.
