Bishop James T. Worthy was born and reared in Charlotte, NC, and was educated in the public schools of Charlotte-Mecklenburg County.

Bishop Worthy is married to the former Elder Felicia C. Mc Coy, a native of Philadelphia, PA, and is the father of three daughters; Yavette La Faye Price, Breana Denise Outen, and Joanna Phylice Worthy, and a proud Grandfather of two, Ayanna Nichole Barnes and Montrel Outen.

In September 1991, Bishop Worthy submitted himself to the Lord’s will and accepted the Father’s call to preach the gospel, delivering his initial sermon in November of the same year and licensed by the Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, under the tutelage of his father, the Rev. Dr. Vernon M. Worthy. He was ordained by the Missionary Baptist Church in 1993, and spent nearly 20 years pastoring churches in both North and South Carolina.

In 2005, Bishop Worthy was duly consecrated to the Ecclesiastical Office of Bishop by His Grace, Bishop Martin Christopher Wilson, and the college of Apostles and Bishops of Unity Fellowship Alliance International, serving as UFAI’s Dean of Preachers, International Administrator, and President of its Ministerial Credentialing Auxiliary.

In January 2006, Bishop Worthy relocated back to Charlotte and served the Sounds of Praise Pentecostal Fellowship Ministries, International, under the leadership of Bishop Allen H. Simmons, as the Special Assistant to the late Bishop Ellazor Campbell, pastor of the Galilean Deliverance Center Church, SOP, until August of 2007, when in obedience to the voice of GOD, Bishop & Lady Worthy became the pastors of the newly formed POWER Church, a non-denominational, Bible-based church, located in East Charlotte, NC. In the short time of its existence, the church continues to rapidly grow and progress.

Education is near and dear to the heart of Bishop Worthy. He holds the following degrees:
-Associate of Arts in Religious Education, Sugar Creek Road School of Religion, Charlotte, NC

-Bachelor of Theology in Biblical Studies, Sugar Creek Road School of Religion, Charlotte, NC

-Bachelor of Theology, Andersonville Theological Seminary, Camilla, GA

-Master of Theology, Andersonville Theological Seminary, Camilla, GA

-Doctor of Ministry in Sacred Literature, Lamp Light Bible College, Pageland, SC

-Doctor of Divinity, Saint Thomas Christian College, Jacksonville, FL

In addition to his pastorate, Bishop Worthy is an published author, having completed and nationally released his first book, When the Saints Go to Worship, and is preparing for the release of his second work, "There's A Story in the Storm," later this year. An upcoming entrepreneur, Worthy is the co-owner and Chief Consultant of Third Eye Designs & Printing.

Of all of his milestones and accomplishments in ministry, Bishop Worthy seeks daily to yield himself to the will of GOD, patterning his life after the words of Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding, in all thy ways, acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
