From his humble beginnings, Dr. Toby Malichi a licensed and ordained marketplace minister with a prophectic voice, overcame tremendous odds to become a successful, self-made international entrepreneur, strategic advisor, business strategist, and speaker, from being one of the youngest district managers in the history of General Motors Corporation to founding his own firm Malichi Group Worldwide nearly 28 years ago. Dr. Malichi called a “World Citizen” by his contemporaries has traveled extensively to over 70 countries and six continents brokering deals, advising, and speaking to world business, political, government, and spiritual leaders ranging from giving rise to the poor and the homeless; to the Trans Atlantic Business Dialouge (TABD) with U.S. and European Union (E.U.), and the World Trade Organization (WTO) officials and business leaders; to the transformation of the marketplace in Indonesia and Singapore with more than 120,000 leaders and delegates from all over the world in attendence. Dr. Malichi has served as a selected official volunteer small business spokesperson and advocate for the successful passage of Free Trade Agreements by two previous White House Administrations. Currently, Dr. Malichi serves as a federal appointee to the board of directors of the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service - U.S. Department of Commerce - Indiana District Export Council. Vincennes University - the State of Indiana's first college - bestowed Dr. Malichi with an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Business on April 30, 2005.
With numerous appointments, conferences and honors to his credit, Dr. Malichi was coroneted Chief of the Ashanti Tribe, Central Region – Accra, Ghana (2001). This former member of the Board of Directors for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Executive Committee for the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) was named twice as a "Greater Washington Power Player" for 2000 and 2001 by the Greater Washington (D.C.) Board of Trade. Dr. Malichi is the recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash, the highest honor that the Governor of Indiana bestows (1996). Dr. Malichi is also listed among “Who’s Who of Global Leaders.”
Dr. Malichi holds the distinction of being one of the youngest district managers in the history of General Motors Corporation (GM). And, is a graduate of GM’s School of Management and Marketing. During his tenure, Dr. Malichi survived a near fatal car accident and spent several months in a critical care burn unit. His superior performance, while managing 14 franchise dealer organizations, exceeded corporate sales, marketing, and business development goals that generated annual revenue gains of more than $70 million, and earned him the prestigious General Motors/Chevrolet Motor Division Leader’s Ring.
Dr. Malichi has worked on several important trade agreements, including the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). As a result of his work on NAFTA, he was invited and attended The White House signing ceremony, a historic event that included all the living Presidents Bill Clinton, George Bush, Jimmy Carter, and Gerald Ford. Dr. Malichi has met many world leaders including President Nelson Mandela, Germany Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, and President Jiang of the Peoples Republic of China, just to name a few.
Among his many achievements, Dr. Malichi was a selected participant, official spokesman, and Issue Group Advisor for the U.S. - European Union (EU) Trans Atlantic Business Dialogue (TABD) Small-and Medium-Sized Enterprises Working Group III, Co-convened by The White House, U.S. Department of Commerce and the European Commission.

Dr. Malichi was the first African–American vice-chairman and later the first elected African – American chairman of the Indiana Small Business Council, Indiana Chamber of Commerce from 1987-1989. He served on the executive Committee and as a board member of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce during this time period. Dr. Malichi also served as Chairman of the Governors Conference on Small Business (1989); as a Delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business (1986-1995);
Dr. Malichi was invited to be a featured marketplace speaker at the 5th Eastern Gate Prayer Convocation 2007 Singapore. His seminar topic was “Transformation of the Marketplace.” The Prayer Convocation was attended by pastors, ministers, spiritual, government and business leaders from over 58 countries and all 7 continents.
Dr. Malichi was one of twenty-five World Business and Religious Leaders invited by the governing body of Transform World Global Ministries - to a special meeting in Kona, Hawaii - and was selected to become an International Focus Group Facilitator, Speaker, and Delegate to the Transform World Indonesia 2005 and Transform World India 2006 Marketplace and Governance Groups. Dr. Malichi will also continue play a vital role in future Transform World Connections - global ministerial events.
Dr. Malichi was personally selected and invited by Pastor Bambang - Founder of 70 churches in Medan, Indonesia, to be the week’s revival - featured speaker. Dr. Malichi, ministered to thousands - on the marketplace and governance. Medan is the second largest business district in Indonesia. Dr. Malichi has also conducted seminars on the “Marketplace” for Youth With A Mission (YWAM), at the University of the Nations in Kona, Hawaii.
A charismatic individual and gifted speaker, Toby Malichi, “The Motivator”, is in great demand as a motivational speaker, with more than 3,000 speeches worldwide to his credit. His original video, “Attitude with Toby Malichi” aired nationally on PBS and was selected as “Editor’s Choice” by Success Magazine, with sales in excess of 250,000 videos. Sales of a second video, “Get Motivated with Toby Malichi,” are expected to exceed the original. Dr. Malichi’s “Who Motivates the Motivator” pocket quote book is a daily dose of positive energy for those not so positive moments is in high demand.
Dr. Malichi recently served as a panelist and speaker at the Global Diversity Supply Chain Conference sponsored by Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. The conference attracted over 200 CEOs from around the country.
Former Secretary of State, Colin Powell of the U.S. State Department invited Dr. Malichi to deliver motivational talks to high school and college students and professors in Grenada and Barbados. Dr. Malichi was invited back to speak to government officials and employees in Grenada by the Prime Minister.
