I am a university professor at the School of Art, Aberystwyth University, Wales, UK. My research is in the field of the visual and sonic culture of religion. I have a particular interest in the ways in which the Scripture is converted into cultural forms, visual and audible. Presently, I am investigating the musicality of black preaching and Afro-American traditions of reading the scripture.
