Korey JaMalle Bowie grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of musical, faith-filled parents whose love for music and the arts influenced Korey to follow in their footsteps. At the early age of 13, Korey began to explore his interest in writing and music production. His interest developed into a passion and led him to follow thru and complete his B.M. (Bachelor’s of Music) in Audio Recording Technology at Georgia State University in 2005.
In 2005, Korey accepted an exciting teaching position at Atlanta’s New Schools at Carver – School of the Arts. Carver was considered one of the worst schools in Atlanta at the time and had one of the worst dropout rates in the Country. Under a new program, the school would be broken up into four smaller schools where Korey was invited to participate in developing a brand new curriculum as the Music Technology and Audio Recording Instructor. Korey poured his heart and soul into developing the curriculum for his students and helped them soar in the process. Bowie’s 2009 senior class were the first students to graduate from the four-year music curriculum that he helped to design. “Korey is an artist and educator who performs and teaches with passion. He is truly a modern day Picasso’ of music.”Dr. Marvin A. Pryor – Principal - Carver School of the Arts
Korey’s love for music has led him on many exciting paths including his current works as the Music Supervisor for Bright Idea Entertainment’s new Saturday Morning sitcom; “My Parents, My Sister & Me’ - featuring Debbie Allen and Robin Givens. Recent projects for Korey include writing and producing a song for Gospel Recording Artist, Darwin Hobbs’ 2010 album on Tyscott records and, Korey recently completed production on a track for Coco Brother’s upcoming release featuring Joann Rosario and Tye Tribbett also on Tyscott. Korey’s growing resume also includes the song “I Do Worship” a song he wrote and produced that was featured on CeCe Winans Presents: “PURE WORSHIP” on EMI Gospel/2007. Korey also wrote and produced the dynamic praise& worship album “OUTPOURING” for his sister in Christ, Leah Lee (www.leahlee.com
In the fall of 2008 Korey launched Invested Music Group and began working on his self penned and produced debut LP, Life and Love, Vol. 1: Songs of the Heart. A blend of Soul; Rhythm & Blues; and Contemporary Christian music, Korey’s musical style and true love for the word of God has landed him into a new genre, fittingly entitled, Rhythm and Blessings --R&B….For Your Soul
Life and Love, Vol.1: Songs of the Heart, features sixteen original tracks by Bowie all showcasing his incredible vocal and production talent and introducing him as a writer whose songs will leave an imprint for years to come.
Standout tracks on “Life and Love” include; “I Made It”, an early Gospel Radio favorite, earning Korey early praise at Atlanta’s #1 Gospel Station, Praise 102.5 when it was featured and won three nights in a row on the Coco Brother Radio show Battle. Other great tracks include the urban radio favorites; “Right Now”; “Favor Ain’t Fair” and; his official first single, “So Hard”.
