My First Sermon

On Sunday, October 23, 2011 at our 11am service I completed my first sermon!!! The months, weeks, days and hours leading up to this day were rough and full of fear but I thank God that when I stood before His people He showed me who I was in Him and He took control.I thank God for having a leader and being part of a church who I can say without a shadow of a doubt loves me and supports me. I most of all thank God for loving me in spite of and despite the messes I have made to show me that He…See More

About Me: (Ministry Info, Hobbies, Fav. Music etc.)
I am a young man striving for more and better in the will of God. My life has not been an easy one but I can yet give God thanks and am grateful because I could be at another place in life. I am grateful each day that God wakes me up and I am able to see, hear, touch, feel and taste. There are people in this world that would give everything they own just to be able to do the everyday functions that we take for granted. When it comes to God, His Word and speaking His Word I can be passionate, tough and to the point but other than that I am a fun, down-to-earth and comical young man who enjoys the company of good people. I am a young man who has a backbone and it doesn't get weak because of man, his ways, the influence of this world nor a title. No matter what society says I believe God and His Word.

Here are a list of things you NEED to know:

1. I do not deal with hypocritical and inconsistent church folk- on any level.

2. I do not deal with liars and deceivers.

3. I do not deal with church folk who use the Word of God to mentally, emotionally, physically or financially abuse others.

4. I do not waste time nor energy of thought or words on people who believe they have ALL the answers to everything. I was always told if you know everything you know nothing.

5. I do NOT agree with female pastors.

6. My relationship with God is not based on your rules, regulations and man-made doctrines.

7. I am strong in what I believe in and I will not debate issues that are of no concern to me.

8. Weak men make for a weak church.

9. I do not deal with church elitists.

10. I believe a majority of what the church teaches and/or does is NOT scriptural.

I'll conclude by saying this; what you think, feel or believe about anything on this list doesn't matter to me on any level- especially when I have the Word to stand on. So please, with all due respect don't waste your time sending me negative notes under the guise of "brotherly love" and/or trying to persuade me through your scriptural scare tactics because that game has grown tired and at this point is more hilarious. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with what I believe or anything I say but don't think that your title, position or "supposed" spiritual authority puts any fear in my heart and/or shakes my confidence in what I believe.

Greetings My Brother! I see that you are looking for a church home. I am a new pastor in Jersey City, NJ, and my church is located just a few minutes from the Grove Street and Newport PATH Stations. I am an A.M.E. Pastor who has roots in both the COGIC and the FBH Churches. When looking for a church you must pray and ask God for guidance, because you do not know what spirits are operating in the house, as everyone who attends church are not saved nor have a relationship with Jesus Christ; from the pulpit on down to the pew. As I have been in your shoes before I joined the A.M.E. Church. One concern I had was why are there too many weak men in the church? Weak men equate to a weak ministry. Another concern I had was that some preachers would preach what was popular as opposed to what is right. For example, the get ready, get ready, get ready complex. God never said get ready. He said, “Be ye also ready.” Get ready means you have not worked. Be ready means you are in the midst of working. You get the point. Like you, I do not like elitism in church, because it causes division in the House of God. The good thing is that as I matured as a Christian, I learned to be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove. God helped me to understand that churches are full of imperfect people. When people do wrong, don’t judge them, just pray for them. The Holy Spirit showed me that believers must hold each other accountable for our faith walk. To that point, I have also learned that churches can fall into a state of apostasy and subsequently out of the will of God when sin runs rampant in the church. This is what happened to the Church of Laodicea in the Book of Revelation. Paul even said in one of his letters that certain sins should not be mentioned among believers. When seeking a new church home make sure that it’s a spirit-filled, bible believing church; where soul winning is the number one priority. My prayers are with you. Stay blessed and always be a blessing that’s the way!

Nice to know your not part of the Elitist apostate church~~~Until there is deep maturity in the Torah and the wisdom of the writings are well within a man... No need for Titles.
Actually, If these Elitist' as you put it, would really go and study with the Rabbi's and Sages...That would get them over their pride in short order..Why?
Simply the deeper you go the Less you know..(There is so much depth)
That revelation is a good fix for arrogant pride...IMHO

~~enjoy your journey"J&T"

God bless you Brother Smith and thanks for replying about Gospel Comedians. So people are too saved to laugh. I say sometimes as I perform and see those deep saints, "Just because you do not laugh, does not mean you are so close to God". Thanks again and God bless!
