Isaiah 9:2-7 (NIV)
2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. 3 You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as men rejoice when dividing the plunder. 4 For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor. 5 Every warrior’s boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire. 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. Isaiah tell us that he shall be a
WONDERFUL COUNSELOR: a. Some translations separate these two words. Wonderful/Counselor. But that doesn’t change the meaning. Wonderful specifically deals with the supernatural abilities of the savior. The Scriptures state that Jesus is a “wonderful counselor” (Is. 9:6). Which means to us, Jesus has the answer to every question and solution for every probleam he . Always available – Matt. 28:20; Heb. 13:5 And . Always gives perfect advis em. If you are weary in mind, this evening Jesus says, “Come unto me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Mt. 11:28). If you (Mt. (6:33). If you are worried about life, what going on Jesus says, “Be of good cheer; it is I, be not afraid” . He has counsel for every crisis, a plan for every problem, a direction for every dilemma and, we need to: call is name the bible saids 1 Pet. 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him, for he cares for you . Isaiah continues though, by saying that he will also be called MIGHTY GOD.
MIGHTY GOD
When this messiah comes, Isaiah says, it will be like in the day of Midian’s defeat. remember the story of Gideon found in Judges 6-7. The people of Israel have felled into idol worship, and so the judgment of the Lord was upon them, and they were being oppressed by the Midianites. They would come and take everything they had when harvest came, and wouldn’t t leave anything left for the Israelites so we find Gideon threshing wheat in a winepress – trying to hide his work from anyone’s view so that the wheat won’t be stolen, oh but we cant hide from god the angel of the Lord comes to him and says, “The LORD is with you, thee thou mighty man of valour But Gideon’s replied, “if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? I tell you he able but you have to open our mouth and call his name He is a MIGHTY GOD. And just like in that day, we can trust him. Right now As MIGHTY GOD He has all the power in his hands He commands the winds and waves He heals with a word.
He carries the weight of the world’s sins upon his shoulder. And because he is MIGHTY GOD, you can trust him to provide for you and I just what you need. And just like in the day of minan Things might look like God wasn’t in charge but then, when the dark of day comes remember the darning of light shall come. When we were in the world we were in darkness men love darkness so they can do their evil deeds but when the light shawned on us that was brighter than the sun the When we are brought to the light of Jesus, God uses our spiritual eyes of faith to enjoy another and complete sense that unbelievers can’t enjoy he a mighty god and then he’s everlasting farther Because he everlasting farther before there was a here or there a this or that I tell you he is he D. Everlasting – Ill. He is the "I AM" – Never was there a time when He was not – Gen. 1:1. There will never be a time when He will not be – Psa. 90:1-2; Deut. 33:27. heres the good news (Ill. Your life My life is tied to His, and we will only live as long as He does!) because he always was and all ways well be he mighty god and he is everlasting farther He also says, "In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end." – Everlasting This word speaks about forever. It means in eternity, with no ending, but also no beginning. It is said of God that He “lives forever” – Isaiah 57:15. Literally it means that He lives in the forever, He “inhabits eternity”. He is not caught up in or restricted by time as we are. Therefore, He does not change; He does not get older or slower or frail; He is, forever.- Hebrews 13-:8,he the same yesterday today and forevermore and we can call IS Name call him prince of peace we also need to remember why it was that Christ came, why he had to come. Because mankind needed a savior. And there for we shall call him prince of peace We needed a Savior, because our sins had separated us from God, our Creator and therefore we needed a prince of peace. And as I begin to close The message Biblical names have special meanings. For obvious reasons, Adam means, "taken from the ground," or "red earth." Enoch, the man who walked with God and was no more, " god change Abrams name to Abraham and he’s call the "father of (faithful) His wife Sarah’s name meant, "princess. Samuel meant, "God has heard." But the names of our Lord are especially meaningful. His many names give us wonderful attributes of his character. To Abraham He was the great, "I AM. to david . He was the Good Shepherd Solomon knew Him as "The Rose of Sharon." Job called Him "The Kinsman Redeemer." Isaiah knew Him as "The Rock" in a weary land. To Jeremiah, He was, "The Lord, our Righteousness.” But here this text the eagle eye
prophet Isaiah he gives us his prophecy of the coming Messiah. Looks down the telescope of prophecy and sees 700 years and more into the future. He sees a crib, "...unto us a child is born."his prophecy Matthew 1-21 says and she shall bring forth a son and thou shall call his name Jesus for he shall save his people from their sins " . .Unto us a Son is given. That is ditey "john3-16 says for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever beliveth in him should not perish but have everlasting life and then He sees a crown. " .. And the government shall be upon His shoulders. The bible saids his eyes were as a flame of fire and on his head were many crowns and he had a name written that no man knew but he himself and he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood and his name is called the word of god and the eagle eye prophet saids " A Child is to be born.. And we can call is name He provides wonderful counsel for us.
As Mighty God he provides everything we need.
As Everlasting Father he watches over us and shapes us into His Image.
And as Prince of Peace he takes our broken lives and makes us complete. And I just stop by to remind us we can call him if you need a doctor call him he never lost a patient if you in trouble and need a consaulor don’t worry he never lost a case if you friendless there not a friend like the lowly Jesus When you need some body privet to talk to call him for just a little talk with Jesus will make every thing alright I once was lost in sin but Jesus took me in
And then a little light from heaven filled my soul
It bathed my heart in love and wrote my name above
And just a little talk with Jesus made me whole
Now let us have a little talk with Jesus
Let us tell Him all about our troubles
He will hear our famished cry
He will answer by and by
Now when you feel a little prayer turning
And you know the little talk with Jesus makes it right
Sometimes my path seems dreary without a ray of cheer
And then the cloud about me hides the light of day
The mists in me rise and hide the stormy skies
But just a little talk with Jesus clears the way
I may have doubts and fears my eyes be filled with tears
But Jesus is a friend who watches day and and night
I go to Him in prayer He knows my every care
