Pastor R. Joseph Cooks is the founder and humble shepherd of the Evangelistic Restoration Church, Houston, Texas. The Evangelistic Restoration Church was founded in June 1997, under the guidance of God to “reach and restore” the love and joy of the Lord to the world by touching and changing lives by the power of His Word.
Pastor Cooks received the call of God to preach the Gospel at the age of 17 years old. He has been preaching now for 32 years and Pastoring for 22 years. R. Joseph Cooks was ordained on March 29, 1987. He accepted the appointment to Pastor the Greater Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in the Southeast Houston Area in 1987. Serving faithfully in the leadership of Senior Pastor, Gr. Mt. Carmel grew to over 400 members during his tenure.
Pastor Cooks and wife, are a tag team to encourage and deliver the saints of GOD and sinners from their present level of life to the next dimension of maturing in the development of Christian growth. They share their faith, experience, and wisdom in every area of ministry diligently for the glory of our King and the betterment of society abroad.
Pastor Cooks has in vision to win the families in the Southeast Area of Houston, and surrounding counties. He has vision for winning the Men of the neighborhood and those coming out of prison, restoring their hopes to be productive citizens for the Gr. Houston Area. Pastor Cooks is truly a visionary and believer that “What GOD has promised He is able to Perform.”
Pastor Cooks is a native of Houston, Texas. Pastor Cooks is the husband of the lovely, Laura Cooks of 22 years. They have 3 sons, R.J., Jarred and Josiah.

As a Note: The Guinness Book of World Records talks about the letters "J' and "V" as being the newest letters added to English Alphabet, which is post Shakespearean 1630. So the letters "J" and "V" are only 379 years old. Also In The Hebrew /Greek There Is No Letter "J" Take These Bible Tools And Look And See; All "J"s Are a "Y" And All "V" Are a "W" In The Hebrew: Praise Yahweh! We Can Do All Things In Yahweh!
