Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Rev. T. C. Collins was born to Rev. & Mrs. Ezell Collins, Jr. on September 25, 1962 by the will of God in Los Angeles, California. He is the third of four children. Rev. Collins is happily married to Veronica Yarbough Collins. He attended Houston Public Schools, graduating from Milby High School in 1981. His desire for higher education led him to Texas Southern University. He accepted his prenatal call to the ministry on February 14, 1978 and officially became Reverend Tracy Cole Collins. His "Born to Preach" spirit led him to Bishop College, Houston Bible Institute, College of Biblical Studies and Union Theological Seminary. The late Rev. J. L. Gaston of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church provided him leadership and was the site of his first proclamation of the truth. Rev. Collins served as pastor of Mercy Seat Baptist Church, Washington, Texas from August 1985 - 1990. Rev. Collins was called to the pastorship of New United Church on June 2, 1992. Immediately, prayers were made to the "Lord of the harvest" who responded bountifully by adding 85 new laborers to the fellowship. God richly blessed the church through Pastor Collins leadership. God charted Rev. Collins course through spirit powered preaching and directed him to the St. John Missionary Baptist Church on Dowling Street on November 14, 1993 as pastor. Rev. Collins resigned from St. John, May 20, 2000. Rev. Collins is a powerful and authentic proclaimer of the gospel. He conducts seminars, revivals and life changing Bible Studies. He not only proclaims in word, but in mighty songs. His ministry centers on evangelism and in his lifestyle these practices are portrayed. "Go ye and preach that they may hear, live ye that they may see." Rev. Collins has served as Devotion Leader and Treasurer of the Ministers Conference in the National Missionary Baptist Convention of America, the BTU Board of the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas and Director of Evangelism in the Lincoln District Association, served on the Advisory Board of Career and Recovery Resources, Inc. The Houston Chapter of TOP Ladies of Distinction honored Rev. Collins in 2000. Rev. Collins currently serves as Sr. Pastor of The Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Lufkin, TX. Rev. Collins is The Third Vice Moderator and President of the Ministers Conference of The Deep East Baptist District Association. Rev. Collins is currently an Active member of the Texas Educational Baptist State Convention. Among the gifts and talents with which God has blessed Rev. Collins, none are more meaningful and fulfilling to him than preaching and singing. He has been blessed to carry his ministry across the country in various denominations. He has lectured, preached and taught in numerous conferences, conventions, revivals and other special events. He has become very sensitive to the spiritual needs of individuals, and therefore focuses his ministry primarily, but not exclusively to people who are hurting - especially the homeless. Only God in his infinite wisdom, power and holiness will determine how spiritually liberating his ministry will be for this community, city, state and nation.
