Paul often named the names of the false teachers. Such a ministry naturally causes divisions between those who are committed to the truth and those who are following error. Paul made no effort whatsoever to avoid doctrinal controversy. The Holy Spirit warned that "evil men and seducers shalll wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived" (2 Timothy 3:13).
