Ephesians 6:18; 2 Timothy 3:12
What is a believer to do when being persecuted by a fellow believer even if the persecutor is within your local congregation? Our scripture outlines the reason all believers suffer persecution and the answer is to persevere in faith while being dressed in the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).
In II Timothy 3:12, Paul explains very thoroughly why believers suffer persecution as this persecution will come in one form or another to all believers living a godly life. All true believers living his or her life according to God's holy standards and refuses to compromise will suffer persecutions. However, some persecutions can be faith testers as God is preparing the believer for an even greater works in His kingdom building.
While suffering persecution from a fellow believer can and will strike at the very core of your faith and love. What is the believer to do? First go to God in sincere prayer for your brother or sister in Christ asking God to create a clean heart in the person. It is important for the persecuted to stand strong in the Lord and let God fight your battle, because He is your deliverer and will deliver you every time. This is considered taking the high road. Second, the persecuted must reframe from taking matters into his or her own hands because "vengeance is mine saith the Lord." Reflect on Daniel and the three Hebrew boys and how they were persecuted for worshipping the true and living God. They faced imminent death at the hands of the king, but God delivered. Remember Paul and how he was persecuted for preaching Christ and while in prison the jailer and his household was saved. Prayer and faith in God is evidenced in both incidents. What a powerful God?
Believers as we are persecuted for whatever reason stand fast in the Lord, because our enemy cannot harm us. God has the situation worked out.
Comments are welcome.

For my weekly discussion I felt the need to talk about prayer and the power of prayer. This is due in part to the prayer group (The Association of Christian Teachers) led by Sister Yvonne Anderson out of Georgia that the Lord led me to. During our prayer sessions our country, schools, teachers, children and leaders in this country and the entire world is lifted up in prayer. I feel God's blessings moving in that direction. I am a firm believer in the power of prayer because I have many personal testimonies of God answering my prayer. I am very fond of II Chronicles 7:14 because it talks about the promises God made and if His people would humble themselves and pray what He will do. I am a living witness God never fails or failed to keep His promise.

Throughout the Bible and the history of the nation of Israel we see the power of prayer. When prayer warriors went into prayer, then God moved with answered prayers. Our scripture text is an example of God moving as the outcome of prayer. Nehemiah was a righteous man and sought the Lord in prayer before undertaking the task of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. The result of Nehemiah's prayer was God moved with favor on the task given to Nehemiah. God will do the same today for you and I. Jesus prayed so did King David and Solomon. Solomon prayed for wisdom, what happened God answered with much wisdom.

What is prayer? Prayer is communicating with God, simply talking to God asking Him for what you want or saying what is on your mind. God knows before hand, but He wants His children to come to Him in honesty and sincerity. God promised to hear and answer your request.

First, the nation of Israel’s new generation was reminded that they should love God and obey all that He asks them to do. Second, they were reminded why it was prudent to obeying God and this reminder was in the form of the many acts and miracles He performed in delivering Israel out of bondage to Pharaoh. During their wilderness journey, God fed them without any effort on their part and provided water from a rock and this prevented Israel from having to search for water in dry land—the desert. What was Israel’s appreciation? Israel whined and complained which resulted in many dying in the wilderness. A journey that lasted forty years that was designed to last forty days---disobedience and rebellion.

II Chronicles 7:14-15

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place (KJV).

Today’s discussion is humility and what God is asking His people to do and what He will do in return. First, God want His people to humble themselves, which is to recognize who God is and His awesome powers, as He has the power to save, destroy and or punish sin. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah and how Israel was punished with seventy years of captivity because of their sins. The same can and will occur if repentance does not take place. Second, God want His people to pray. God promised that where two or three is gathered in His name He would be in the midst. God is faithful to His promises. Also, the prayers of the righteous availeth much. Third, seek God’s face in all that we do as it should be done to His glory; then there should be a turning away from wickedness to a life of righteous living. Another thought on seeking God’s face is to align our wills with that of God. It is God’s will that His people enjoy a harmonious relationship with Him and all the blessing that He has to give.
God promised that He would hear, forgive and heal the land. What this means is that God will turn away His anger and hear the desperate cries of His people and then He will attend to those prayers. God in His compassionate way will begin to heal the land, because He would have forgiven them of their sin. In the forgiving process there will be a cleansing as sin and wickedness will be replaced with righteous living. Imagine the glorious revival there would be if some sin and wayward living as we know them today is replaced with holy living and obeying the moral standards of God.
Let’s pray, Father God, breathe on this nation, and strike down any and all unrighteousness where ever it may be. Cover our children with Your spirit as they return to school, let them be on good behavior. Touch the teachers and all who are affiliated and come in contact with our children let Your spirit rule. Then touch leaders in every position, let them lead as guided by Your spirit. Then touch the hearts and minds of every person that they may turn to You and live according to Your standards. In Jesus name Amen.
It is God’s free and undeserved love that never quits (Ephesians 2:8). Grace is the gift of God that comes as eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23)”. Student’s Bible Dictionary (P. 106). Then there is the profound definition of grace as God’s Righteousness at Christ’s Expense. All definitions of grace paint a profound picture of God’s love for mankind and the unity that exist between the Father and Son. This is because Jesus Christ-the Son willingly came to earth to be the human sacrifice in bridging the spiritual divide between man and God. This is love in action by God and His Son all who believe will have eternal life—salvation. It is noteworthy to say that salvation does not come by man’s action, but by the Holy Spirit and Christ coming into the believer’s life thus making all believers a new creature in Christ.

Through Christ grace and truth is available in its fullest extent according to Romans 5:17-21 to all mankind who believe. Then what is truth? Truth is an actual fact not what claims to be the truth or appears to be truth. Then God is the source of all truth and John 14:6 states that “Jesus is the way, the truth and the life”. This mean then that man’s existence is grounded in Jesus Christ; Christ is the way to the Father and all life exists in Jesus.

Memorial Day Reflectionstag:abcpreachers.ning.com,2010-05-28:916966:BlogPost:13350702010-05-28T09:30:00.000ZWillie Whitehttp://abcpreachers.ning.com/profile/WillieBWhite

Verse 1 state, “get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee.” This separation was necessary for Abraham and all believers as they must be separated from the world. Hebrews 11:13 describes Abraham acting in faith in God and journeying to a foreign land promised by God.

The last element of this promise is being fulfill in the missionary proclamation of the gospel of Christ (Acts 3:25; Galatians 3:8).

The Christian Community begins in the home of each believer and extends to the church and to our local and national surroundings. The Christian Community is every believer living in the sight of God (Ephesians 5:8-11) while seeking to do His will. The Christian Community is believers witnessing Christ in obedience to the Great Commission and is prayer warriors for self and others as we are in constant communication with God.
This week records one of the most significant events that are recorded in biblical history which is Psalm Sunday and Passion Week. It is significant because on Sunday Jesus was praised and worshipped by the enormous crowd who recognized Him as the promised Messiah. There were joy and rejoicing from the huge crowd as prophecy was being fulfilled. Zechariah 9:9 states, “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion, shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.” Believers in the OT had waited patiently for the promised Savior and during Jesus’ earthly ministry He authenticated that He was God’s Son who brought salvation to mankind. This day the crowd praised Jesus by saying “Hosanna, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.” Friday many of the same crowd cried “crucify Him.” what a turn of events?

Zechariah 9:9 captures the core of Jesus’ ministry in that Jesus is just; He displayed humility in His mode of transportation into the city of Jerusalem by riding on a lowly ass and colt. Jesus could have come in royal splendor but instead chose humility. In doing so Jesus had the right view of Himself, His Father—God and all humanity because He knew His mission were to bring salvation to mankind. Jesus was triumphal because He willingly came to earth to go to the cross and give His life in such disgrace. See! Jesus is the bridge that connects man and God; as sin caused the separation. Allow me to paint this picture clearer, picture in your mind Jesus on the cross with one hand reaching to His heavenly Father and the other reaching out to man. What a merciful bridge to have?

Love and compassion is being displayed in this scenario because God the Father needed a sinless body to redeem man, which Jesus supplied and was willing to be temporarily separated from His Father during those dreadful hours on the cross.

These closing questions come to mind, would you have recognized Jesus as Lord and Savior? Would your conduct have been the same on Friday as it was on Sunday?

Let’s pray, thank You Jesus for my salvation, thank You Father for sending Your Son to take my place on the cross for this I will continually sing Hosanna and forever bless the name of Jesus. In Jesus name, Amen.
Ministerial Leadership Gifts for Christ’s Churchtag:abcpreachers.ning.com,2010-03-19:916966:BlogPost:12620352010-03-19T12:00:10.000ZWillie Whitehttp://abcpreachers.ning.com/profile/WillieBWhite

Today’s discussion is the prelude to a lesson that is forth coming in the very near future in my online class via YouTube.

Why did Christ give these specific gifts for His church leadership? Christ gave these gifts so His called leaders could prepare His people for service work (Ephesians 4:12). Each gift has a special purpose and responsibility in proclaiming God’s Word. Each of these gifts are working together so there is unity in the Spirit and faith (vv 4, 12) as there is one body—Christ’s –the church. Each gifted person is called by God. Why? Christ did so because “there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all and in all” (vv 4-6).

What is the purpose of these gifts? Verse 12 provides the answer by stating, “For the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” Notice the verse did not say self-edification, but instead stated that these gifted leaders are to train and release every member of the church to do ministry in some corner of the world proclaiming Christ to others. This represents church growth while edifying Christ and adding to the kingdom of God.

How are unity of the Spirit and faith maintained and perfected? This is accomplished by accepting in faith the gospel messages from the above named gifted leaders who have been called by God to train His people. Christ’s leaders who proclaim the truth about God’s Word and those who hear will grow in grace thus advancing toward spiritual maturity as it relates to Christ (v 15) and will no longer be looked upon as children who will be swayed by “every wind of doctrine” (v 15) because they will know the truth (2 Timothy 2:15). This verse is essential to our spiritual growth and maturity. It is noteworthy to say that only true gifted and called leaders of God will proclaim the Word of God as there are many false proclaimers who are trying to boggle the mind of God’s people with false doctrine.

What are the functions of Christ’s called leaders as noted in our scripture text? An apostle is one that have been called, commissioned and given the authority by Christ Himself to serve as His representative in proclaiming God’s Word. Prophets are and were essential to the church in the OT and NT as they are spiritual leaders gifted in receiving and communicating revelations received from God by the Holy Spirit. Evangelists are those persons called by God with a special anointing and commissioned to proclaim/spread His Word world over to the unsaved. When the “Word” is proclaimed it carries the power and gift of salvation. Phillips in Acts 21:8 was a great evangelist who preached Chris. Pastors are persons called by God to devote themselves to the ministry of shepherding and overseeing the spiritual needs of a local congregation of believers. Lastly, teachers are gifted-called leaders who alongside apostles, evangelists, pastors and prophets that have been given the gift to clarify, expound and explain God’s Word with clarity, effectiveness and power to build up the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:28; Ephesians 4:12).

In summary, each spiritual leader is called by God to proclaim His Word to edify the Body of Christ and promote Christian growth and maturity so there is unity in the Body of Christ as in the Godhead.

Paul comes to mind when he told his followers that he knew how to be happy whether he had plenty (abound) or little. Man and God’s time is never the same, because one day with God is as one thousands years with man. Also, many closed doors are a test of our faith to determine our commitment and perseverance in our walk with God. It has been stated that the race is not won by the swift but to those who finish the course. Life is a journey and there will be trails/ faith builders because when we encounter God delays will build our faith and trust in Him as we learn to “cast all our cares upon Him” (1 Peter 5:7).

The Bible provides in clear and unmistakable languages how one is to respond to God’s Word (Isaiah 1:10; Jeremiah 7:1-2; Acts 17:11; Matthew 13:23). One must respond enthusiastically and with a willingness to adhere and a desire to understand His Word. We are to praise God for His Word (Psalm 56:4, 10; Psalm 119:47, 113) as well as responding with love, delightful joy while thanking God for His inerrant Word for all to live by. Hearers are to accept what it says and hide it in our hearts, then hearers are to trust His Word for it is true (Psalm 119:42). There is hope and promise in His Word. God is faithful in keeping His promises to all humanity. He promised a Savior—Jesus came to earth as humanity’s sacrificial lamb. Most importantly, hearers are to obey its commands and live as directed by the Word of God.

(a) the Nature of God’s Word, (b) the Power of God’s Word, and (c) our Reactions to the Word of God.

God spoke His word to Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3), Isaac (Genesis 26:1-5), and Jacob (Genesis 28:13-15). God also spoke to the entire nation of Israel at Mount Sinai as well as giving Moses the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-19).

God also spoke through the prophets and apostles. When the prophets spoke they usually prefaced their statements with “Thus saith the Lord,” or “Hear the Words of the Lord,” or “the Word of the Lord came to me.” This was to let their audience know I am not speaking for myself. We witness the same power of God’s Word when spoken by NT apostles, for example when Paul preached his sermon to the people at Pisidian Antioch (Acts13:16-41), it caused such a stir until “the next Sabbath day almost the entire city came to hear the Word of God” (Acts 13:44). On another occasion when Paul preached to the Thessalonians what the people heard was the true Word of God (1 Thessalonians 2:13; Acts 8:25).

What Jesus spoke was the Words of God as He is God (John 1:1; 18; 10:30; 1 John 5; 20). Also, Jesus would often introduce His sayings with “I say unto you…” (Matthew 5:18, 20, 22, 32, 39; 11:22, 24).

Most important, the written Word of God is what the prophets, apostles and Jesus have spoken--the scriptures. It is note worthy to say what preachers and or prophets proclaim in churches today is called the Word of God as recorded in scripture many years ago. A word of caution for all to be aware of false teachers/leaders who try to convolute the true Word of God as many false teachers are present in the world attempting to impede the proclaiming of God’s Word and His kingdom’s progress. God’s Word is powerful and everlasting.

Today let’s look at John 3:16 from a giving and receiving point of view. This verse is regarded as the golden text of the Bible, but it also depicts the true essence of giving and receiving. God is our perfect role model on giving and receiving because He gave to us first.

Let us look at several points in this verse, first, God so loved that His motivation for giving was love, and so should our giving. Second, God’s love became an act that He gave. Third, God gave His only begotten Son--Jesus. God gave His very best; we are to give our best. Fourth, God gave for a specific reason---to return man back to Him from Satan. It is God’s deepest desire to have man and His relationship restored. In order for God to get His need met, He gave. Fifth, God gave sacrificially. Our salvation cost Jesus His life. It cost us our full repentance and giving our lives to God. Sixth, God’s plan worked---souls are saved because God gave His best first.

Several questions come to mind, what is your motive for giving? Is your giving motivated by love while keeping in mind that God loves a cheerful giver and it is better to give than to receive while modeling our giving after God? What is your need? Is your giving an act of your deepest love and strongest faith which is the key to having your needs met. Give your life to God receive eternal life.
