Super Size It! "The Era of the Mega- Churches!"

SUPER SIZE IT - THE ERA OF THE MEGA CHURCHES!

BY VICKIE L. EVANS

We live in an economic era where the "Bigger" the item - the "Better"! Fast food restaurant employees routinely ask "Do you want to Super-Size It?" as an enhancement to the already "large" items, such as fries and a soft drink, in a combo. Subsequently, this is a suitable marketing technique in such a competitive industry as the restaurant business, but… Continue

Why isn't the church really affecting communities?

For the years I have watched ministries in communities, I have fail to see one truly affecting the community. African communities are being ruin daily. Homes are being broken, drugs and drug dealers are taking control, prostitution is rapid, schools are closing, more and more dropouts every year; liquor stores everywhere communities are soon to be 3rd world-like places. Someone please tell me, has the true church arrive yet? when Yahshua was here on earth the community was shakened up. People… Continue

The Double Portion Annointing

2 Kings 2:1-15 (KJV)

And it came to pass, when the Lord would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal. [2] And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the Lord hath sent me to Bethel. And Elisha said unto him, As the Lord liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Bethel. [3] And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Lord will…

Are You Churching?

The Reverend Dr. Farley suggested via email that I write a blog based on Chaplin Mark Steven's email sent to all his friends entitled Wake Up Church. Since I'd recently written the blog "Who Sold You That Line of..." which I truly believe was Spirit led, I agreed to pray about it. I usually just read the blogs of others and comment on occasions. However, if you read the long winded easy read "Who Sold You That Line of..." you will see that the email topic of Chaplin Stevens and my… Continue

Sex Offenders: A Tough Topic for Church Leaders

By Laura Brown

Amended by Dr. Tracy Scott

At some point, you might learn that a sex offender attends your church — or wants to. What will you do?

Offer support if the person is repentant? Ask the person to leave?

Allow him or her to stay unconditionally and pray nothing happens?

If you do nothing, the offender might be tempted to harm someone else in the church, traumatizing the victim and devastating your ministry. The liability exposure is… Continue

God knows the numbers better than we do.

69% of Americans believe in God, 77% pray outside of religious services, 75% believe it's a parent's responsibility to give children a religious upbringing. 45% respondents called themselves religious, 50% said they rarely or never attend worship services. more than 27% of respondents said they don't practice any kind of religion. only 5% of respondents didn't believe in God, 7% weren't sure about the existence of God, 12% didn't believe in an afterlife. 24% of respondents put themselves into a… Continue

Wasted Energy

Hi Body of Christ,

Here I am again....! You all know that I recently left a church after the Pastor sanctioned a married woman being engaged to her boyfriend without being divorce first. I decided to leave the church quietly without making any fuss. Now the Pastor and Co-Pastor are telling people in the church not to have anything to do with me. They have gone so far as to ask my "sister in the ministry" to disassociate herself with me. Those that had contacts with me on various… Continue

'They Tried to kill me but I'm still Dreaming"

Greetings:

Prophetic Gathering are times of impartation, refreshing, activation, release, and revelation. There is a corporate anointing that comes when prophets and prophetic people gather for worship, prayer, teaching, and utterance that causes believers to come to a higher level (1 Samuel 10:6).

Saints were in a crucial time where the environment could cause us or even force us to give up on our dreams and visions. Although at times we hear the noise not the sound, and… Continue

Worldly Minded versus Spiritual Minded

I write this blog to get peoples opinions, thoughts and to discuss what the Bible actually says. I have read several blogs on BPN. I am intrigued that some people seemingly jump to particular acts (pursuits/discussion) being worldly (ungodly) rather spiritual (godly), for example, people are quick to judge acts around money, sex, some businesses and beyond as worldly.

Food for thought: Worldliness has at its foundation the lust of the eye, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.… Continue

RELEVANT CHURCH & COMMUNITY

So you say that you are anointed. Your ministry is relevant. Really? If that's the case then you will agree that God's hand on US, changes the hearts and lives of OTHERS. “The king gave all that he asked, for God's hand was on Ezra” (Ezra 7:6).

The African American church, and community, must change our understanding and attitude about what it means to change lives, by re-evaluating our impact. There is an old proverb that says,"if you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, but if… Continue

The Church -- The Ivory Tower?

Christianity has so many diverse compositions to it sometimes one can get confused over the very nature and essence of its reality. It really makes one wonder, if we can't internally define who we are, we can't externally witness about what we are? That being said I want to proceed to make some sense of and express some clarity to the origin and nature of the church. The church of Jesus Christ has progressed from a small group of Jewish believers to a diverse world-wide body of Christians… Continue

Silent Women

I want to ask the question about the Silent woman, I call my self the silent Woman, I attended a church for over six years, and I went in as a hurting woman, and I came out as the hurting woman, I went in with one kind of hurt and came out with another kind of hurt .

This time it were the church hurt, has any one every been there? I were excited because a lot of women were in this church and I thought I could find sisterhood here, I thought that we could bond together and do the… Continue

Saving A Christian Marriage From Divorce: Ten Things You Should Know

By Dr. Tracy Scott

It’s sad but true. All of us have been affected, either directly or indirectly, by divorce.

Recently, it was stated that: “While it may be alarming to discover that born again Christians are more likely than others to experience a divorce, that pattern has been in place for quite some time. Even more disturbing, perhaps, is that when those individuals experience a divorce many of them feel their community of faith provides rejection rather than… Continue

THE KNOWING

Beloved I want to admonish you that if you have not yet viewd the movie the knowing, please do so. This movie is an eye opening movie for the children of the kingdom. However still be careful because it does mix a few other religious beliefs within the christian belief.

I challenge us as believers to find out what we know for sure. So many christians go in the opposite direction of those who are not of like faith I am persuaded that that is because we are not sure of what we know.… Continue

Joe Osteen and the Prosperity Gospel

Rev. Lyn Bell

In reading a e-newspaper this morning, I read an article about Joel Osteen and the prosperity gospel. This article really defined the prosperity gospel for what it is and how it has led so many astray.

The article was originally written by Gary Gilley at www.svchapel.org and posted by BCNN1.com. The author is very thorough in explain the theories of this gospel. It discusses some of the well known in the faith movement including Kenneth Hagin (deceased),… Continue
