Our Christian Community

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

While studying and meditating on November’s daily devotional and writing a devotional on “The Rapture” and taking into an account what happening in our local churches today caused me to ask this question, what is happening to our Christian community?

Our Christian community is witnessing a drop in attendance among the congregation as well as their offering has declined. There are many activities taking place in many of our churches that is commonly… Continue

Reflections

Exodus 3:1-12; Deuteronomy 30:1-10

Considering what to write in today’s blog, I felt this was a perfect time to take a reflective look at our Sunday School lessons for the summer and reflect on the lessons that were to be learned from them. This quarter’s lessons were “Call Sealed with Promises”, and we learned God keeps His promises.

Unit I of the summer series was “Called Out of Egypt” where the nation of Israel cried out to God while in bondage and God heard their cry.… Continue

Obedience is Better Than Sacrifice

Psalm 95; Numbers 20:1-5

In this week’s blog I felt the need to discuss last Sunday’s Sunday School’s lesson taken from the SSPB Sunday School Commentary as it relates to Moses and the children of Israel’s disobedience.

In reflecting on this lesson study, several thoughts came to mind, which are: (1) the children of Israel wondered forty years in the wilderness due to their constant disobedience and complaining about what they didn’t have or the way God was handling… Continue

Pray For Our Children

Join me in praying for our children as school days are fast approaching and the evil one is on the prowl, and our little ones safety is the reason behind the call for unified prayer. At the beginning of each school year there appears to be an increase numbers of violent incidents with our children; this do not have to be.

It is common knowledge that the prayers of the righteous availeth much and one righteous prayer will put 1000 demons to flight and two or more will put 10,000 to… Continue

There is Rest in Jesus

Matthew 11:28-30

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

It has come to my attention that some of my readers are struggling under the weight of difficulties, our scripture text reminds us of Jesus’ invitation to come to Him regardless of our problems. Jesus recognized that there were going to be problems in our lives regardless the cause; whether it sickness, financial difficulties or family struggles it remains a problem that… Continue

Faith in God through jesus Christ

1 John 5:1-5

In this week’s blog we will look at some key lessons in faith as “faith is based on our knowledge of God’s Word and His character” (Spirit Filled Bible).

In faith we as believers look forward to the second coming of Christ and we know that we will be transformed into Jesus’ likeness when He returns. Because of our faith we are confidence in our witness to who Christ is and the love that God, the Father has shown to all mankind as the Holy Spirit bare witness of our… Continue

Summertime

This is our second week into summer as this is the time of family outings, picnics, family reunions and attending many outdoor activities; let us remember children are our future as they are gifts from God and are to be loved cherished and protected. While in our reflective mood, remembering our youthful days spending summertime taking part in many activities our parents had planned for our enjoyment When we returned to school we could hardly wait to share our summer vacation with friends and… Continue

Let Go And Let God

1 Peter 5:7, Psalm 23:1-6, Philippians 4:19

This week’s topical discussion is to encourage us to take our problems to God and leave them with Him as He is willing and able to handle all of our problems. 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us of God’s care for us in that He asks us to “cast your cared upon Him; for he careth for you.” God would not make such request if He were not willing or able to handle our problems. Another school of thought is that God is the creator of all that is created and… Continue

Words of Encouragement

John 16:33; Romans 15:1; Hebrews 3:13

While reflecting on the grim news that is bombarding our air ways while many are experiencing personal challenges I felt it was my Christian duty to impart words of encouragement. Allow me to say regardless of personal situation, remember Jesus Christ is present through the Holy Spirit who is our comforter, guide and present help in times like these. Remember God’s Words when He promised never to leave or forsake His own, and it has been my… Continue

Come As You Are

Pondering what to write for this week’s blog, I was led to the above phrase as it relates to God’s invitation to humanity. It is God’s desire that all be saved and He invites all to come to Him without money, or any other baggage that could hinder the unsaved from receiving salvation.

What this phrase is saying that God in His love will do the cleansing through regeneration, sanctification, and justification for all who accept His gift of salvation, but the unsaved must first admit… Continue

Memorail Day

Memorial is designated as a time of remembering or reflecting, and as we approach this holiday day weekend, I felt it necessary to take time out to wish everyone a safe, happy and relaxing weekend.

Many will spend the day /weekend reflecting and paying tribute to love ones and our fallen soldiers who have given so much for this country; for this I say my prayers and love are with the families and the soldiers both past and present alike, and well as the families who pay tribute to… Continue

The Peace of God

Jeremiah 33:6

How does the Bible define peace? First, the Hebrew word for peace is shalom which mean something far more than the absence of conflict whether it is wars, conflicts or upheaval in the home. Shalom/peace address the presence of wholeness, harmony, soundness and well-being in every aspect of one’s life. Second, the King James Study Bible commentary section defines peace in the following manner:

• Peace can refer to tranquility in international relationships, as seen… Continue

Psalm Sunday & Passion Week

Matthew 21:1-17; 24:3-25:46; 26:26-30; 36-56

The month of April is widely associated with Psalm Sunday, Passion Week, Good Friday and Easter or Resurrection Sunday as they relate to Jesus Christ.

While reflecting on each event, let’s ask ourselves what does each event mean to me? Are we reflecting with heart felt compassion and adoration for what Christ did for all humanity? As we celebrate Psalm Sunday is it with the full understanding that Jesus entry into Jerusalem was… Continue

How do you worship God?

John 4:23-24

In an attempt to answer our discussion question, we must define worship, according to King James Study Bible; worship “constitutes those actions and attitude that ascribe honor and worth to the great God of heaven and earth.” It further states that worship is “God-centered and not human-centered.” Additionally, the King James Bible states that “in Christian worship we draw near to God with joy and gratitude for what He has done for us in Christ and through the Holy… Continue

which do you choose the gift of God and eternal life or sin and death?

Romans 6:23

Our topical discussion is based on a personal decision that each individual must make when deciding whether to accept God’s free gift of salvation that gives us the inheritance of eternal life or reject God’s gift of salvation and spend eternally separated form Him.

In making our choices we must remember that there is a spiritual warfare that is raging between God and Satan and our choice will determine where we will spend eternity as well as how we live our… Continue

A well of Life

Proverbs 10:11

In this week’s topical discussion we will answer three questions, what is meant by the phrase a well of life? Who is considered a well of life? How does one become a well of life and what are the benefits of being a well of life?

In our efforts to answer the first question, our scripture verse parallel’s the mouth of a righteous man as being “a well of life.” Why so, because all believers who follow God’s ways will lead others into the full-life given by God… Continue

Valentine's Day Message

God’s love letter to the world

John 3:16

As America has set aside this day to show one’s love for another, our heavenly Father displayed His love for all the world written in His Son’s blood (John 3:16). It begins by expressing the magnitude of His love for the world and this love surpasses all and endures all (1 Corinthians 13:1-8).

True love emulates God’s love that withstands the fires of life regardless of the difficulties we face. On that note, I send my agape love to… Continue

In the Presence of God

Exodus 33:1-23

In this week’s discussion we will look at some of the blessing of being in the presence of the Lord; as a background to this week’s topical discussion which is based on the renewal of the covenant with the nation of Israel. This lesson’s setting takes place at Mount Sinai during Israel’s journey out of Egypt as they had become very sinful which caused Moses to intercede for them on many occasions. In verse 1, we see the Lord telling Moses what to tell the people, that… Continue

In God's House

Psalm 84:1-4

We will begin this week’s topical discussion by looking at the blessing believers receives from being in God’s house. Believers who go to God’s house are seeking His presence, answered prayers (v. 8), a renewed spiritual strength (vv5-7) as well as His grace, glory and goodness (v. 11).

Let’s take a closer look at the word “blessing” as it relates to God’s blessing His people receives as recorded in Luke 24:50, which are:

1. Blessing has the meaning of:… Continue
