Men's Accountability Initiative March
Sunday, 28 September 2008

Much has been debated about men over the last number of years. Be it about a crisis in masculinity or the loss of his role in the family. We in Makana(Grahamstown) believe that it is time for men to step forward and accept accountability for their clearly defined roles.

To implement this vision we are launching a Men's Accountability Initiative to encourage, support and motivate men to accept their accountability roles in our communities. This we believe will make a big contribution to the healing and restoring of various communities.

The launch of this initiative will take place at the Christian Arts Festival on Sunday, 12 October 2008 at 14:00. It will take the form of a men's march from Nombulelo High School to Tantyi Hall, Tantyi Location (2.5km). We would like to encourage wives, sons and daughters to join the march with their husbands/fathers.

We would like the men of your church, school, business, government department and community to join us as a symbol of their willingness to accept the accountability for their roles in Makana(Grahamstown).

One of the biggest problems in our society is the breakdown of relationships between fathers and sons. Research indicates that 95% of male prisoners have grown up experiencing a breakdown in relationships with their fathers. It would be especially meaningful if fathers and sons decided to march together on 28 September 2008. It would be even more meaningful if fathers and sons decided to be part of the same accountability group.

The logistics and security in connection with the march will be communicated to you closer to the time via mail, press and radio.

If you are interested in joining us and / or would like more detail please contact one of the following people:

Come and join us as we commit ourselves to become players in winning back our communities.

Best wishes
Apostle Mzamo Happy Hlwempu, Pastor Mzukusi May, Pastor Lizo Dyibishe
