The Danger of Dying Rich

Luke 16:19-25

There was a certain rich man, clothed in purple, and fine linen. He lived sumptuously everyday. There was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who desired the crumbs from the rich man's gate, and was full of sores. The dogs licked his sores. And it came to past, that Lazarus died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom, and the rich man died, then buried. In hell did the rich man open his eyes, being in torments, seeing Abraham, and Lazarus in Abraham's bosom. The rich man said father Abraham, send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his tongue, for I am in torment in this flame. Yet it was said remember you in your good days received good things, and Lazarus evil, now Lazarus is being comforted. It is dangerous dying rich, because you will have all the memories of your life when you had opportunities to do good, and did not. Plus there will be the vision of the saints that are passed on to Heaven, while you are in hell. There is a gulf between them, and you that they cannot cross over to come to you. The rich man then cries to let Abraham come and preach to his brothers lest they should come to hell also. The father says they have the prophets, and did not believe them. Neither will they believe the one who is raised from the dead. Jesus is that one, and the only hope for the rich man to do is to unload his riches before he dies, take up his cross, then follow Jesus.

Never wait for tomorrow to come, for no one knows the day or the hour when the Son of man will require their soul. Today is the day of salvation, when you hear His voice harken, lest your heart becomes hardened like the rich man. Thank God that suffering won't last always. Lazarus received the good things from the Lord because he harkened to the voice of God, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. Heaven or hell is but one breathe away. There is one life to live, and only what is done for Christ will last. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved, and thine house. No one can blame God for sending them to hell, for they made the choice when they refused to accept Jesus as their Savior. Jesus stands at the door knocking, and if any man will open the door, He will come in  then sup with you. Jesus is the bread of eternal life. Therefore do not labor for the bread that perishes. Man cannot serve God and mammon.  Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, then all these things will be added unto to you.

Preaching on Hell, is never a popular subject matter, but Jesus said more about Hell, than He did about Heaven. It is obvious that Hell is a place that we must shun with all of our might. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shall be saved, and thine household. The rich man had brothers he wished could hear the gospel, and not go to Hell as he did. We must take this gospel to them so they can believe the gospel, and be saved, while there is time. Be faithful to share this good news to any one God sends into your pathway, for you may be their last chance to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. May the Lord bless you to share this gospel today, is my prayer in Jesus name Amen!
