“A Thank-You Note the Day after Thanksgiving Day – A True Story” - Sister Sandra Dukes

Dear Mr. Curly,
This is a thank-you note to express how wonderful it was for you to share your blessing of a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with others.
First let me explain something to you - I will call you Curly, because that is what you requested. But if you remember when we first met I mentioned that “Curly was my grandfather’s nickname. He was the only grandfather I knew (not including one great-grandfather) and all the children called him Daddy Curly and everyone else called him, including Mama Mary (his wife), Mr. Curly. So I simply call you ‘Mister Curly’ as a memorial of respect to my grandfather’s character and to yours. Thank you again for the Turkey Dinner with the trimmings. The family, to which Connie and her husband took the dinner, did not have a Thanksgiving dinner. I suspect probably they had no form of dinner at all yesterday. So I give all praise to God that He included all of us in the gift of giving. I thank God, Jehovah-Jireh which means “The Lord will provide”. This is the name by which God revealed himself to Abraham. And by which “the truth contained in the name of “God Jehovah-Jireh” ruled Abraham’s heart before he uttered it and established it as a memorial in the place where God provided a substitute, the ram, for Isaac”. The name “Jehovah – Jireh” may be translated in three ways: “The Lord will see; The Lord will provide; The Lord shall be seen”. All these translations were manifested yesterday, “Thanksgiving Day”, beginning with your deed of kindness. These words of honor Jehovah –Jireh expresses the idea of God seeing and of God being seen. For God, to see is to provide. In the south we have a saying that is a prime example, we can usually be heard saying “I’ll see to it”, when being asked to take care of something or to provide some type of service. So today” the day after Thanksgiving Day” I am still praising how God uses us, His children to do His goodwill. I give thanks that God Jehovah- Jireh is a God that keeps on giving. Jehovah- Jireh was the provider, you, Mr. Curly was the supplier, I had the conscious thought via the Holy Ghost and Apostle Dennis Cook’ s Thanksgiving sermon and lesson; and Connie and Bill were the vehicle God used, to know the family in need.
We all thank you again, your friend, neighbor and sister in Christ - Sandra Dukes
p.s. I just spoke to Connie, and the family that received the dinner expressed heartfelt gratitude, so expect a card of appreciation. To God Give the Glory - Amen
