“ARE YOU SEEKING THE MIND OF JESUS CHRIST”
Phil. 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in CHRIST JESUS.
As we look at this portion of the scriptures today, though it has only 12 words, it encompasses our entire life as Christian. You will ask me then why do we have then all that is written in the Bible?
The word mind is define as the aspects of intellect and consciousness manifested as combinations of thought, perception, memory, emotion, will and imagination, including all of the brain's conscious and unconscious cognitive processes. "Mind" is often used to refer especially to the thought processes of reason. Subjectively, mind manifests itself as a stream of consciousness.
We live in a time in age were everybody is looking from various perspectives to give their life an image, we have people relying on various techniques developed by the various discipline of science: biology, sociology, philosophy, psychology and so forth. We have a ton of book written day after day, many that promulgate that one need to have faith in self in order to attain a certain sufficiency, a sense of wholeness, that one can reach their full potential in relying in those methods.
Experience suggests that on less rather than many occasions has one attained such quest. To those who say that you should believe in yourself, I tell them that the primary reason why I find myself in this mess. As the Bible records in the most quoted and recognized verse John 3:16 “GOD so loved the world the He gave His only begotten Son that whomsoever believeth in Him shall not die but have everlasting life.” Nevertheless, this glorious verse does not mean or imply that once you have made this declaration, your life takes a turn and you come to a spiritual terminus, rather the task at hand increases. We have many looking for the ideal; they get the ordeal and are in line looking for a new deal. As a Christian, which only signifies in the likeness of CHRIST, we have biblical principles, doctrines and ideologies put before us. Throughout ages, we have tried our level best to meet GOD’s standard.
Now, let me pose this question to us; how can a sinful man please a Holy GOD? The interesting part here is that GOD will not expect us to do what we are not able to accomplish, the Bible says Hebrews 4:15 that CHRIST was tempted in all form, shape and manner but in Him sin was not found.
I came here today to let you know that it is possible to overcome the issues of life, many people are relying on self-help books, there are many schemes offered today on the public market. People spend thousands of dollars to try regulating their lives; you will be surprised if I told you that get a balanced life do not require all of that. Let me just push the envelope further, you do not need all the junk that you try in your life to be stable. But when you begin to have the mind of CHRIST the course of life begin to align itself to you. Nowhere were in my Bible, have I read Jesus asking such questions: “What is going on? What are going to do? Where are we going to spend the night or eat our feast? If you are not convinced, remember when He sent His disciples to minister, I think your Bible reads in this wise: take all you can take because the trip is long, but my Bible reads he told them not to take anything with them, not two coats neither a loaf of bread.
It is not how much money you spend or which book you buy, it is not about where you are in life today, or whether you were abused as a child, or you grew up in the projects, it doesn’t matter which zip code you live in. When you have the mind of CHRIST you get Christ like results all the time. He said to the sea, the winds and the waves “Peace be still” and my Bible tells me that they obeyed him, He said to the blinds to see and believe it or not they received their eyesight, at His command the lame picked up his bed and went his way rejoicing and giving thanks to GOD. He told Lazarus who has been in the tomb for 3 days and nights to come forth, though his sisters said he stinketh, Lazarus still came forth. I can go on for a little while and quote how nature, the circumstances of life lined up with the words of CHRIST JESUS. And today I dare you to have His mind and you will notice that the things that holding you down will begin to move out of your way and the things that GOD has promised will begin to be fulfilled in your life.
In my conclusion, this sermon might sound good to you but there is one condition for you to partake to all this. For one to have the mind of CHRIST, you must resign from being the CEO of your own life. CHRIST must reign supreme in one’s life. All you need to do is go to Him and surrender your life to His Lordship, if He is not your Lord and Savior, your own attempts will lead you to experiences that are more painful. Is there anyone who is willing to make a commitment to surrender their life to CHRIST? You have carried the burden for too long, now is the time for GOD to give you the rest you have longed for. In CHRIST JESUS name, may GOD bless you.
