AS A MAN THINKETH

Proverbs 23:7
7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
Man: Hebrew 5315. Nephesh, a breathing creature, (bodily or mental):-- man, desiring, any, appetite, lust, pleasure, X would have it.

1) What does this teach us about ourselves?
2) Where is our heart, seat of emotions?

Genesis 11:5-9
5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

1) What do you think was the purpose of this action?
2) What did man do differently from before?
3) What can a group of people do when united in their desire?
4) Is there anything restrained from a people who work together for God?
5) What is the catalyst needed to unite and fulfill a vision?

7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

1) What did the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit do?
2) What did the Lord do to mankind?
3) What was the reason for this action?
4) When we are not working toward the unity of God and His people what can God do with us?
5) Is there a lesson to be learned at these expense, as well as even our's?

8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

1) Please notice it was the Lord who scattered them abroad.
2) What does this say to you and I about our fellowshipping with one another?
3) Are we really concerned with this Ministry, or are we just coming together?

9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

1) The name Babel means confusion are you, confusing God's Ministry?
2) Don't be scattered be united for the work of the Ministry of God.
II Corinthians 10:1-6
1 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:
2 But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

1) When God has ordained His man or woman for service who are we to speak against their work which He God has called them to fulfill?
2) When one sits back and watches a chess game we think we can play the game better for we see moves maybe the player cannot, yet he is the one playing the game. Are you sitting back and not playing?
3) Are you allowing your flesh to separate you from His work and purpose?
4) Do you think God is unable to correct anything He sees wrong with His workmen?
5) Are your feelings getting in the way of your serving God to the fullist?

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

1) All of us walk in the flesh, but we are told not to war (live) after the dictates of the flesh.
2) Are you allowing your feelings to get in the way of fulfilling your purpose?

4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

1) The word carnal has to do with pleasing of the flesh, are we seeking those things that please our flesh?
2) We are told that we have weapons of warfare, what are they?
3) Strong holds how does something become a strong hold?

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

1) How does an imagination come about?
2) Are there good and bad imaginations?
3) What do we do with imaginations contrary to God's word?
4) How do we bring imaginations in captivity?
5) How do thoughts play into imaginations and strong holds?

6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

1) Revenge: to inflict damage, injury, or punishment in return for (an injury, insult, etc.); retaliate on behalf of (a person, oneself, etc.).
2) One cannot revenge another this is the Lords duty, we are to walk in obedience to His commandments.
3) Obedience can only be fulfilled by our willingness to do God's will at His command.
4) Are we really seeking our own desires rather than God's?
5) Can we change the directions in which we are going?

Philippians 4:4-9
4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

1) We are told, "finally", there is a way in which we as believers are to think on and there are eight things to focus on.
2) These are, things that are:
a. true
b. honest
c. just
d. pure
e. lovely
f. of good report
g. be any virtue
h. be any praise
Think on these things.

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

1) We are told, "those things", here is our example.
a. learned
b. received
c. heard
d. seen
e. DO
