Life Changing Words

Be Prayerful Not Careful

(Phil 4:6-7 KJV)  “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

In everything we do in life our first action should always be to consult God. How do we do that? We do it through prayer. Prayer should be a dialogue not a monologue. When you petition God for anything you should be expecting an answer from Him. In reality no Christian should attempt to achieve or perform anything without first asking God what is His will. An important part of prayer is discerning God’s will and aligning yourselves with it. When you pray for that which you know pleases God, you can pray with confidence.

That is why Gods word says be careful for nothing. To be careful insinuates that you are worried about making an error. See let’s look at the word careful and its definition. It means to be attentive to potential danger, error or harm: cautious, full of cares or anxiety. When you are careful in all things you are trusting yourself or something that is natural but when you are prayerful your trust should be in God. See it is hard to trust a God who you have no experience or a relationship with. Trusting God requires faith in Him and His word. Knowing that He never fails and His word will never return unto Him void but it will accomplish that which He said and in the thing and/or person in which He sends it. Prayer and supplication presents a cure for worrying for when we begin to pray Thanksgiving is present.

Now thanksgiving begins to take you back to what God has brought you through and all He has done for you. This in turn increases your faith and dependence on Him. For you begin to think if He has done it before surely He can and will do it again. Maybe even greater works shall He do this time because your trust and dependence has demanded a great expectation from the Lord. You as a believer can receive and conceive the impossible or the unattainable when you are in a realm of expectation. For when your faith increases your revelation increases, which will, give you supernatural wisdom and understanding and this is where the peace comes in.

See the peace that surpasses all understanding is a sanctifying peace that goes beyond human comprehension. This is why this peace can keep your heart and minds because it is from God and not from this world. For surely the Creator, which is Christ, can and will keep the creation (which is man) in perfect peace whose mind stays on Him.
