William Seymour knew what it takes to usher in the revival.  It is not about money at all because he took no offerings during his revival meetings.  Seymour knew the difference between a career and a calling.  Yes, we need a good career to satisfy our bread and butter issues.  But we need a calling to run an effective ministry.

A good career is possible when we acquire the educational knowledge and skills together with the Father’s wisdom to be employed or running our own business. A calling from God will endow you with the anointing so that you can preach with power, pray for the sick and cast out demons.

Some people mix the two things up and expect God to answer all their prayers. Or worse, some believe that they will get rich if they start a ministry. Also, many people tend to spiritualize everything they do on this earth.

(1st Cor 2:13-14) These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

If spiritual things are discerned spiritually, then material and financial things will have to be discerned physically.  For example, if you spent many days and many hours in prayers and received the anointing from God and went out praying for the sick, then many sick and afflicted will be healed. There will even be signs and wonders in your meetings.  These are spiritual things and you needed the Holy Spirit to move and break the bondages of the people. However, with the same anointing and you jump down from the 30th floor and you expect to float because of the strong anointing in you, then you are mistaken. The law of gravity will take over and ensure you drop dead. Conversely the things of God and the things of the world cannot mix. Why? The love of God is different from the love of the world.  When you love God, you enter into a special relationship with Him. When you love the things of the world, you will strive to acquire those things. (1 John 2:15) “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” Even magnificent church buildings will be destroyed as Jesus had said that not one stone will be left unturned.
