Dear Father God,

I want to wish you a Happy Father’s Day for you have always been the father that was always there.
I wanted to thank you for being there to help me blow the candles out on the cake, teaching me how to skate, walking me to my first day of school, protecting me from bullies and teaching me the Golden Rule.
.
Dear God I want to thank you on this occasion, for a mother who really cared and who never spoke harshly about my Daddy, a voice without a face , broken promises on a telephone line just suspended through space ; A father that never took his place.

Dear God I want to thank you for that Christian mother who instilled into me hope, worked hard and long and still stayed strong, who took her regrets of life and let Jesus turn them into a song. Oh, my ever present God I thank you.

Dear God I want to express my gratefulness for the knight in shining armor you were to me, shielding me with your mercies when the liars, cheaters, deceivers, molesters, and rapists tried to destroy me.

Dear God I want to thank you for closing my mouth and not allowing me to speak words to hurt like darts when my daddy assumed he had took a part - “How pretty she is, how smart! We made a pretty baby and I hear she will study arts!” Oh God I really do want to thank you.

Dear God I want to thank you for being the arm I held on to while I walked down the aisle, the consoling shoulder in a divorce , the counselor in broken hearts, the adviser in career ups and downs , my guidance , my shield , for being here always. I truly want to thank you.

Dear God I want to express the marvel in your wisdom and planning that I would be there on Dad’s death day; the daughter that had been forgotten, who was there when he wasn’t , The daughter that held her daddy’s hand and comforted him through his pain . The daughter that shared a conversation with unspoken words that of a father’s apologies and a daughter’s forgiveness through tears of closure. I thank you for the courage to withstand the delivery and the demise of a bond formed so late and ended so quickly. I thank you I never walked away. I read the bible and all of Psalms and prayed. I prayed you would do him no harm but find him a resting place. And then as briefly as that sweet moment of union - of God, Father and Daughter began it did end. For that moment I will always thank you.

Dear God I want to thank you for sitting close to me in the funeral when you took my mama home, for never leaving me alone. I want to thank you for placing in me your DNA, replacing ignorance with knowledge and foolishness with wisdom, pain with joy, insanity for strength of mind and for bringing me back into your arms again. I thank you for your love, patience, favor, mercy, and loyalty - empowering me to see that though I left you, you never left me.

Dear God I want to thank you for my ministry, for the women and men you have set in my path to teach and preach me the gospel so that I might fight against Satan and his wrath.

Dear God I want to thank you my Heavenly Father on this Father’s Day for being the father that is always there, my Dear God.

“You are the Jehovah Shamma, the God that is "there". You are always "there" for us. You are the "Enough" God. If we have you, we have enough.”
