“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God”.
In Memory of Carl La Grand Carlock

December 20, 2009

Dear Christian family and friends; greetings in the blesseth name of Jesus Christ our Lord,

I ask that you would continue to pray for me and my family as we bury my Uncle Carl today. There are so many things on my mind and heart right now, so much so that I cannot impart my emotions through prose, which is rare. I do praise God I have the Holy Scriptures to comfort me .I do praise God for positioning me into a place of quiet peace and assurance through His Word and the Holy Ghost. When I think of my Uncle the scripture that keeps rising up in my spirit is ““Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” — Matthew 5:9

Carl Jr. as I affectionately called him had the unique gift of being all things to all people who encountered him. He was advocate, counselor, comforter, moderator and friend not only to his children but to all the members of our family; and to friends and strangers. Carl had a way to look past the present and see what you could and would be if you only applied yourself and thought with a sensible head. He was a quiet, a silent leader challenging you to explore and expand your possibilities and capabilities. He was a thinking man, wise without arrogance, assertive without aggression, strong but not hard, rightly living his life without being self-righteous. Uncle Carl gathered your attention without being loud and boisterous. He did not demand your respect but he fully earned it because of his character. He could laugh you out of a troubled mind; motivate you into a more productive way of thinking in a crucial situation; and love you with the hope of tomorrow. He reflected the true character of Jesus not by carrying a bible and speaking from scripture to scripture, but he imaged himself in love and compassion; longsuffering and patience; understanding and tolerance; speaking the truth and standing on his word. He brought about peace; by not gossiping; by not tale bearing, not scrutinizing and not judging. My uncle exemplified his love for Christ Jesus by treating others as he would want to be treated.

Today I stand with my family and our friends and we bury an uncle, a brother, a father, a cousin, a friend, a confidante, a mentor, a mediator ; a shoulder to cry on , a hand to hold , a listening ear, a truth filled word and a silent heartfelt prayer. Today is the day we bury Carl Jr. Today is the day we bury Uncle; pray for us. Amen

1 Peter 1:3
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead

Isaiah 40:26-31

26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens:
Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one,
and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.
27 Why do you say, O Jacob,
and complain, O Israel,
"My way is hidden from the LORD;
my cause is disregarded by my God"?
28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Psalm 30:5 (New International Version)
5 For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may remain for a night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.
