Have you been Redeemed?
1 Peter 1:18-19 (KJV)
18) Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19) But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Webster's Dictionary (1864) defines REDEMPTION as:
The act of procuring the deliverance of persons or things from the possession of captors by the payment of an equivalent.
(Procuring is defined as : to get by SPECIAL effort or to bring about; effect)
WHAT ARE WE REDEEMED FROM?
Redemption of the PAST....
1) The Curse of the Law
Galatians 3:13 (KJV)
13) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
2) Bondage of the world and Sin
Galatians 4:3 (KJV)
3)Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:
Galatians 5:1 (KJV)
1)Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
The bondage of the law.
Galatians 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
The power of sin.
Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
The power of the grave.
Psalms 49:15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
All troubles.
Psalms 25:22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.
All iniquity.
Psalms 130:8 And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
All evil.
Genesis 48:16 The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.
The present evil world.
Galatians 1:4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
Vain conversation.

Enemies.

Death.
Hosea 13:14 I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.
Destruction.
Psalms 103:4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
WHAT IS THE PRICE OF REDEMPTION?
The blood of Christ.....

9) And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Romans 3:24-25
24)Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25)Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
REDEMPTION SHOWS US ...
GOD'S POWER
GOD'S GRACE
GOD'S LOVE
GOD'S COMAPSSION FOR HIS PEOPLE.
THE REDEEMER IS CHRIST AND THE PAID RANSOM IS CHRIST'S BLOOD.
