Intercession For The Nations

How can one individual help to shape the destiny of a nation? Through the prayers that he or she offers up to God on behalf of the nations or nations. You may never have the opportunity to travel to the nations but God can most certainly bring the nations to you! In the privacy of your prayer closet you can travel to the ends of the earth and touch untold millions of lives through your intercession on their behalf.

We should never underestimate the power of our prayers. For "the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much", (James 5:16). The Bible is full of examples of the power of ONE to change the destiny of the MANY. Moses was one man, and his intercession spared the entire Hebrew population from being obliterated by God. Esther was one woman, and through her intercession the Jews living in the region of Persia were delivered from the hands of their enemies. Through one man, Nehemiah, the entire city of Jerusalem was rebuilt and fortified against their enemies. Finally, through the intercession of Jesus, one man, whosoever will shall have eternal life.

It is at this point necessary to understand one thing all of these had in common which is a key to effective intercession, and that is the willingness to suffer in the place of those for whom they interceded. The ministry of intercession goes far beyond prayers of petition or supplication, for it involves a fervency and a dedication towards obtaining the answers to those prayers. It is not uncommon to find the intercessor actively seeking to be a part of the very answer to the prayers.

It is out of this prayer closet that many great men and women of God are birthed into the world. The time given in prayer on behalf of others is time invested in a heavenly account for the destiny of the intercessor as well as it is for those who are the recipients of the prayers.
