Laying or throwing money at the preacher's feet.

Why is this done? where in scripture can it be found? is it an act of idolatry?

Sister Micah RaSun-Vann, you are right on point! Even the TITHES that ministers collect are supposed to be shared with the WIDOWS, ORPHANS and STRANGERS, they consume mainly on themselves and their own projects, and don't distribute them according to the manner the scriptures describe for us. Do you know of any ministry giving TITHES to any of the WIDOWS?

The early church, we find in the Book of Acts, set up DEACONS to care for the WIDOWS. Haven't seen that done in any church.....

In the early church writings, at the end of the church services, the minister would stand at the door and as the widows who were enrolled in the congregations exited, they would be handed money on a weekly basis for their financial support. Pastors would look at a perseon as though they were crazy if they showed this truth to them.

No wonder when the Messiah returns, he will tell many 'DEPART FROM ME YOU WORKERS OF INIQUITY'!

You can read the scripture many use to justify this show in Acts 4:32-35.

It's merely an emotional response to statement made by the preacher that agrees with some idea or belief the churchgoer entertains. I say churchgoer because a Christ follower would want to adhere to scripture and not entertain the thought of such a show. Laying money at the preachers feet is taken from the above scripture (out of context I might add) where the people placed the money at the Apostles' feet. But if we want to use this scripture to validate our self serving motives, we should at least have it closely model the scripture we're using to justify such practices.

The scripture says "Nor was there anyone among them who lacked for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold and laid them at the apostles' feet and they distributed to each as anyone had needs". Pray tell me where do we see this happening as the money is being laid at the preachers feet.

It's not happening and herein lies the danger of taking scripture out of context. "You make the Word of God of none effect through your traditions (ungodly practices, shows, false prophecies).
