Life in the Jungle
“If you stay still in the jungle, the jungle or something in it will eat you” Brazilian Expression.
Yea I know, I’ve gone weird again. But some how this is just one expression I believe should be in the bible. I have worked in an office environment before. And well .. We all know how life is a jungle.
It’s a dog eat dog, cat fight, survival of the fittest environment . And for what? A few shekels at the end of a two week or month. What the government does not grab, bill collectors will. And then children.. Buy me buy me, buy me.. No wonder many collapse in utter exhaustion.
So where did I get this revelation any way? A story that appeared in the Langley Advance a local paper in a neighboring city. All about this Canadian that entered an endurance race that would last 9 days in the Brazilian jungles. (What was he thinking) For those that feel Canadians are a little on the “bar-b-qued “ side of life well there is the proof! Pictures of trees that had spines large enough to impale any foolish enough to grab for a little rest. Wasps the size of thumbs! Snakes that look like a branch kind enough to grab would strike faster than one can blink!
Now before we get all harsh on the bro.. think . 25,24,23,22,21,20,19,18,17,16,15,14,13, 12,11,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1! Time is up!! What about our life? Thos sharp barbs of gossip that can impale a friendship of the person tat was foolish enough to reach out and grab a hold for a little prayer support. False accusers with tales of destruction that would make Satan ( father of all liars) blush. We have those sweet looking saints that look so safe but will tear down any ministry rather than edify it. Serpents of jealousy when a project sits for years and some one gets the vision to carry it out then they deice to destroy the builder by biting them then assume the credit as the destroyed life crumples out into the gloom of life.
How many of our “congregations” are jungles? It gets hard to recruit top persons to get a job done when they become fearful of the next creature that may try to “eat them alive”. Then we wonder why true revival does not happen.
All this from a small line in a news paper . Yet still another medallion is given. After being almost mutilated in a cloud of hornets, the individual named in the project. After he becomes stable enough to move. In spite of no longer being qualified to compete, as he was assisted out in an unconscious state. Does a remarkable thing. He runs bare foot along the final 32 kilometers under a blazing hot sun to finish! Why ?? I quote “What ever I do in life, its about finishing strong, and finishing the race.”
Well for those of you out there afraid to move .. Remember, if you sit still you will be jungle food! Or … lets kick off our shoes, come on so what the sun is up to its highest moment! The heat is on! Strip down to a T shirt and shorts.. We are almost at the finish line. Hold our head high, run that race of endurance, get that Spartan spirit.
No silly words, fancy music that band has gone home anyway. The promise is to those that endure and finish ( now that is in the bible) . On our marks .. Go! ( pant .. Pant, pant) See you at the finish line
