I've sung this and prayed this. But until today I actually have a revelation of what this is actually saying.

In The Message Bible, Matthew 5:1 translates the "poor in spirit" in these exact words "You are blessed when you're at the end of your rope. With less of you, there's more of God and His rule."

I get it now. Do you see it? In order for you to have more of God, it demands less of you. You'll experience it if you haven't. When you get to a point where everything YOU have done isn't working, when you're worn out from running on your own steam and no results are produced, or when somebody in your life is getting on your nerves and for some reason they haven't left you alone no matter how much you push them away, you'll qualify and be in the right attitude then to shout out "LORD, I NEED MORE OF YOU". Because it's only then that you'll realize that it's going to take only God in you to deal with whatever you're dealing with. It may hurt, but this year I'm determined to never take on the attitude of "Okay. Thank you God, I can now take it from here". HA! I'd be the fool. I'll just wind up back into another situation where I'll have to call on Him again. So I might as well just stay "poor in spirit" (Matthew 5:1) and depend on Him for every last thing.

Ephesians 5:18 commands us to "stay filled with the Spirit". We have to remind ourselves that even in our knowing what we know, WE DON'T KNOW IT ALL. God is all knowing. But as long as we "stay filled", I'm willing to bank that we will always stay ahead of everything. Staying filled to me means simply just spending time with God in reading and studying, prayer, praise and worship. These things build me up on the inside, making it that much easier to deal with whatever I'm facing outside of me. These things fill me up.

To all true believers and christians (not the ones who title themselves as one as you would do as saying your a democrat or republican, but the ones who are truly active in God's word), don't you know that God is on the inside of you as well as on the outside? So that's why we feel build up when we pray, praise, worship, etc, because we are lifting up the God in us. And as long as you cater to the God that dwells in you, you'll always feel uplifted., and you'll go out about your daily routine in peace and joy with no stress.

Ephesians 5:18; Don't get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless actions, but be filled with the Spirit". Be filled and stay filled. Stay reading, praying, studying, meditating, praising and worshipping. Learn from the wineo's, wake up everyday seeking after God as a drunk would do with liquor. People who drink heavy are empty people for the most part. So the feeling of soberness leaves them wanting more. Do you like the feeling of emptiness and lonliness? Once you come down off of God's Spirit, He'll leave you "WANTING MORE". So I encourage you to "be filled and stay filled"
